The original that started it all, this little house converted into the popular restaurant carries the perfect Austin ambiance. Also, pancakes bigger than your head.
As far as breakfast items go, Kerbey Lane's pancakes are a true thing of beauty. But don't forget about their French Toast, which may be the most "classic" French Toast included on this list. Made with actual French bread and sprinkled daintily with cinnamon and sugar, Kerbey's version is simple, straightforward, and not terribly sweet.
Great place for breakfast!. I love coming to Kerbey Lane for breakfast! Their french toast plate is great; the chicken verde omelet is delicious. I really like the atmosphere too. It can get crowded on the weekends, but if you go during the week many times you can avoid having to wait. Make sure to try the Kerbey Queso - yum!
Overrated.. This place has average food. It isn't bad, but def. not worth the prices! I can make better at home, If I go out to eat I'm going to want something that is worth while. Unfortuantely this place isn't it.
Not what it used to be. This restaurant is not what it used to be. Long waits, so-so food and bad service. Stay away from the campus location if you want to avoid waiting 40 minutes for your food after you order it.
PANCAKES!!. They have the best gingerbread and blueberry pancakes anywhere. Very filling!
food good, service bad. Our waitress was horrible (slow, rude, and inattentive). We had to wait over 10 minutes before she brought us our drinks. Fortunately another server brought out our food. We didn't see our waitress again until it was time for us to pay the bill. I had to ask the host for a refill. However, the food (pancakes and omelet) was very good. But I won't be going back anytime soon.
try it you will like it. Not the Kerbey Lane I remember from my last visit 6 years ago but still good. The wait staff is awesome and the food is always fresh and yummy. Ran out or portobello 'shrooms which was a major bummer for me. Definitely a must for breakfast with awesome pancakes! Hibiscus tea was terrific. You can always find something new to try on their menu which makes it a great experience. Really loud and long wait- especially for the one whole potties! Go for the food and enjoy the experience. A must on any trip to this city.
An Austin Delight!. The service was stellar tonight! My gracious hostess was charming, as is the change in decor, yet thankfully the queso remains unchanged! This Kerbey far outranks the others, especially the soulless UT outlet. That one truly deserves an overhaul from bottom up! Support the original Kerbey Lane, for it's the best!
best restaurant ever!. The queso is the best queso that I've ever had. It really does make all other queso look bad. It is white with bits of peppers, and the texture is smooth. It is a diet breaker that is worth it. I also love anything on their menu that has lettuce and tomato because their produce is the tastiest around. I think it is home grown. I generally get the club or the BLT, because their bacon is really yummy as well. Their hamburger is also great quality. If you are a vegetarian they also have wonderful meatless dishes. The chocolate pecan pie is one of the best desserts ever!Any breakfast item is a winner as well. Basically e verything on their menu is great.
define queso?. Kerbey Queso is and forever will be my definition of good Tex-Mex queso...I have since moved from Austin but still dream of these gooey bowls of goodness. Oh, and the apple whole wheat pancakes are also stellar.
