A wonderful family business. We had recently had a bad experience with another jeweler in town. We bought a round cut diamond that had broken along two inclusions. Monte was able to send the stone to a cutter in New York. He was kind enough to give us credit towards another oval cut stone that would still fit in the original setting. He was very patient, as we were very picky about the quality of our stone. This is a family run business and feels much more personable than the previous store where we had made our original purchase.
Condescending salesperson. I had a pretty unpleasant experience here. I have an old diamond that has been in my family for generations and my fiance and I were looking for a setting to use as an engagement ring. When we showed the diamond to one of the store owners, he suggested that it was too small and told us it had some "pretty nasty flaws" in it. Although it's true the diamond has some barely visible chips, it felt like this salesman was trying to make us feel inadequate in order to pressure us into buying a bigger diamond. He told me, "when your girlfriends see this diamond, they're going to have some pretty ugly things to say about it." When we told him the diamond had sentimental value, he basically said it was more important for my ring to have monetary value. I would definitely not recommend this jeweler.
Unorganized. I brougt in a few pieces to be fixed for my boss. They did a good job on the jewelry that they sent out to be done, but I left there very upset. They do not keep good records of transactions. I did not see a computer being used, only hand written notes. All the jewelry is tucked away in unorganized drawers. Good luck with them finding your jewelry! They accused me of not having paid for my merchandise that I had previously picked up. They had no documentation that I had paid even though we have the receipt at home. No one had bothered to write down the estimate I was given and they charged us way more than the estimate. They brought the price down by $10, which was nice, but I still feel like they should have called to let us know it would be more. They say that's why they don't like to give estimates, but then DON'T GIVE THEM.!!! They need to hire people who can get them set up with a more professional system for keeping records. I have never had a business call into question my honesty and I will never use them again.
