Tips for Lake Travis Animal Hospital

May 12, 2013

We have been going to this vet for approx. 18 months. They are very friendly but I find that they tend to be much more expensive than my past vet. They tend to promote expensive drugs and treatments. The vet I used before balanced his advice with practical cost effective solutions and, when needed, did recommend the more expensive treatments. I recommended this vet about 9 months ago to a friend and she also noticed this tendency to promote more expensive treatments. I've decided to move away from this vet and drive the long distance to my former vet.

Great People. Moved here from England where we got our dog. Didn't know who to take him to for vet services. Taurus Doggy Daycare recommended them and I am so happy they did. They were so sweet to my dog, Henry, who is 150 pounds of love. Everyone took wonderful care of him and assessing his needs (i.e. which vaccines, heartworm test, etc.). What was really nice is that they followed up with a phone call the next day to see how he was doing! Also, I just received a laminated care with Henry's info on it from LTAH. How cool, one to carry on my key ring and one for my wallet. Henry and I highly recommend these folks.

Highly Recommended. I have multiple pets that have been helped many times by the wonderful staff at the Lake Travis Animal Hospital. My dogs' life have been saved and improved on multiple occasions. I have nothing but praise and thanks for the drs and the rest of the staff.

When in An Emergency -- The Only Place To Go. Came to Visit Austin -- Dog got sick -- The people who work At Lake Travis Animal Hospital took us in with no wait. The are highly skilled professionals that really know their animals. They worked with skill and caring to save my Brimfield who would have passed away if not for the Loving Care they gave us.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL FOR BIG AND LITTLE -- REGULAR VISITS OR EMERGENCY

Caring Clinic - Lake Travis Animal Hospital. Drs. Foster and Meyer, along with the compassionate, individual caring of Kelly O'Connor, their gifted assistant, are the reasons I drive from central Austin to Lake Travis for the care of my dogs and cat. I have known these people and been a patron of this clinic for sixteen years now. I cannot say how deeply grateful I am to them for their professionalism and outstanding diagnosis and care of my beloved animals. They have seen them live life and gently ushered them into eternity.

Knowledgeable, experienced, compassionate Vets. Doctors Foster and Meyer have done a great job of caring for 4 of our family's dogs over the past 8 years. Our aging golden retriever became too ill to walk or eat during the Christmas holidays this year. We requested a house call on December 26th so that our beloved buddy dog would not have to be moved and, if necessary, could die in his own bed at home surrounded by family. Dr. Meyer came to our home and provided the medical knowledge and compassion we needed to help us make a very difficult decision and proceed with the ultimate act of love. The doctors and staff at Lake Travis Animal Hospital have always been very helpful with information, recommendations, medical care and follow-up calls for our pets through their various life stages...in sickness and in health. We recommend them 100%.

Thanks to Dr. Foster. I saw another review on this site stating Dr. Foster didn't care about your pet, so I felt compelled to write about our experience with Dr. Foster, which was quite the opposite.

Some time ago our dog was having puppies, and she was having a terrible time delivering them. so much so we thought she might not make it. We called Dr. Foster at the end of the day and were concerned about leaving her at the vet all night in her condition. Dr. Foster insisted on us leaving her with him and assured us she was in good hands. She ended up having 4 very large puppies that night which Dr. Foster helped to be born, then Dr. Foster took her home with him that night to keep an eye on her. I am fairly certain we still have her today because Dr. Foster cared.

So far, so good!. I've taken my dog twice now to Dr. Meyer, and I did plenty of research before I picked a new veterinarian. Dr. Meyer was recommended to me by my old vet (we relocated). He was very thorough and willing to spend the time it took to answer my questions and address my concerns, including his philosophy on feeding, vaccinations, preventative treatments, etc. He seems very knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects regarding dogs and was very patient with me, and very kind with my dog. So far, I have great confidence in the treatment she is receiving there.

Best place to go to get answers. Went in to have my dog treated for a area on her where she was loosing hair. I had seen a vet who came to our house. She seemed to be guessing at what was wrong, each new treatment costing me more and more money with no results. After 1 month of no success, more money out the window and my poor pooch getting worse, I went to Lake Travis Animal Hospital. They were very professsional, very caring and diagnosed my dog right on the spot!! She is finally improving. They even called me a couple days later to see how she was. Something that I didn't get from the stay at home mom/vet. Bottom line= Go here if you want good care and answers.
