Disappointed

I'll give two stars simply for the courteous service we received. My daughter booked the room for me thinking this would be a real treat. We had one of the nicest rooms with two queen sized beds and had a very pretty view from our window. However, we were subjected to a loud-mouth guy in the next room who started up about 10:30 pm and never stopped talking until well after midnight. And the room service food was mediocre at best and so horribly overpriced. The price of food is really outrageous! The extremely high cost of food plus the paper-thin walls that allowed you to hear every word of a conversation in the room next door really made for a very unsatisfactory stay at this supposedly "luxurious" resort. I definitely do not recommend a stay at this rip-off place. I know I'll never stay there again.
Best Resort on Lake Travis

If you are visiting family or friends in Austin this holiday season or are planning a last minute getaway, Lakeway Resort and Spa is the best resort by far on Lake Travis and in Austin for that matter. The property is beautiful and sits directly overlooking Lake Travis. The staff goes above and beyond and the rates are not bad for the quality of service and ammenities you receive. I highly recommend it for couples, families, and even business travelers.
Our wedding Reception..

We recently had our wedding reception at the Lakeway Resort and spa. While the views are spectacular and the pools are great... the wedding coordinator was horrible, the rooms were unsatisfactory, and many of our guests were left feeling ripped off.
The venue itself was amazing! The ballroom is wonderful... Wall to wall windows expose the gorgeous Lake Travis below!
However, the wedding coordinator made our experience extremely disappointing. He was rude to some of our guests (one being my matron of honor), missing in action during a majority of the night, and prior to the event he was unresponsive and completely ignored my requests.
The bathrooms had NO air conditioning the entire night!!
(..When you pay over 25K for an event... You don't expect an OUTHOUSE of a bathroom. )
We got a "special" rate of $200/night for ourselves and for our guests... our room had dead worms in it and the bathroom was disgusting. One of our guests even said that their sink was broken and that there was no attempt to fix it. Many of the guests who stayed expressed cleanliness issues. The rooms at the Hampton Inn nearby were less expensive and actually nicer than at the resort.
The reception was a blast, but unfortunately the coordinators' lack of coordination made it stressful and a huge disappointment to my husband and I.. When considering this venue... the one piece of advice I can give is to make sure Melanie is back and that she is your coordinator!!!

Terrible Resort, save your money and go elsewhere

My company had our Christmas party at the Lakeway Resort last month and I have to start off by saying it is a beautiful resort. Beyond that though I don't have anything positive to say. Our Christmas party was ok, but the food was average at best, had some of the worst crab cakes anywhere, everything else was mediocre. My main issue though was with a situation concerning our room. After returning to our room after our Christmas party, we are relaxing and a baby in the room next to us starts yelling and crying. My first thought was who brings a baby on a weekeny getaway to a resort and spa, but I remembered that one of the employees has mentioned there were several weddings going on over the weekend. Well, the crying came and went and woke us up several times during the night and early morning. After not enjoying the over priced breakfast buffet where the food wasn't heated properly I was ready to call it a day and check out. When asked how my stay was I told the girl at the front desk it was not great due to the baby crying in the next room all night. I told her how it kind of kills the romantic mood to hear a baby crying, to which her response was, "you must not have children," to which I said no and I don't think people come to this resort to hear other peoples children. This was not the response I was looking for and was handed the bill and pretty much told tough luck. I contacted the hotel later in the week to speak with management and the manager who called me back just said sorry and that there were several babies at the resort and that he would make sure I had a better experience whe I returned again (which will never happen.) I explained to him that the correct way to have handled the situation from the beginning would have been to put the guests with the baby in a corner room and leave a room in between since they were not at max capacity. He had no reply pretty much and that was it. They obviously don't care about losing business, so I will go elsewhere.
- Cons: Everything but the view...
