LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!. I had the good fortune of staying at The Mountain Star Lodge this past weekend.

This is a small property with a very friendly staff and minutes from The Backyard, a newly built mall and a host of bistro's, restraunts and Hamilton Pool!

Our room was rustic and cozy. The balcony had a wonderful view of the nature perserve and at night the stars were amazing.

Beth, the manager, was very polite and did everything possible to make us feel at home. I also spoke with Amy and she's is a chronic smiler, it was a joy to be around such happy hotel staff.

The price is the best you'll find in Lakeway/Beecaves area and well worth it.

Thank you Mountain Star Lodge. This place is a hidden treasure!

Good location, bad everything else!. Elegant? I think not! Bed and Breakfast atmosphere? No way! Views? None! Only of overgrown shrubs and trees. This place was a dump. For $150 a night, I expect much better. Do NOT make a reservation if your plans are subject to change. We changed our other plans (for our anniversary!) to stay here because we were going to be charged for the room anyway- even though the "policy" was not clearly explained to us. The manager was very rude and unreasonable. When we got there, it was totally unacceptable. There was no view as it says on the website. The room was dingy and stinky. The carpet was dirty, the bed was hard, and the sheets were stained and tattered. The very small pool was filled with older guests. Not a place to be romantic!! It is close to the lake, but that is the only positive I can think of to say about it. Not the romantic getaway it is advertised to be at all!

An elegant, expansive lodge with a B&B atmosphere.. The Scene
A Texas theme runs throughout this 40-room lodge. The ambiance is appropriate, considering the beautiful setting overlooking 800 acres of Hill Country. The lodge is located near Lake Travis, and most travelers come here for recreation and relaxation.

The Details
Each of the rooms features a private balcony or deck, perfect for enjoying uninterrupted views of the countryside. Handmade furnishings were created by local craftspeople. Soothing earth tones provide a backdrop for an array of conveniences, such as mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers and data ports. Along with rooms in the primary building, the property offers the Madrone Guest House, which is located below the lodge. This three-bedroom house has an expansive living area and boasts the same great views enjoyed by its uphill neighbor.
