Tips for Oak Springs Veterinary Hospital

Best vet i have ever had. Dr. Varga, Dr. Donop, Pam, and all the ladies at the front are amazing. I have had animals for 30 years and recently had a 14 year old cat that was really sick. I was recommended to Oak Springs from another vet, and now all 5 of our animals will be going there. They kept me informed during and walked me through all that Sammy needed. They didn't over charge, and really kept me up to date on how he was doing, etc. We also had two kittens that we adopted from Town Lake that were sick, and now the whole crew, especially Sammy better than ever. Although I live Northeast of Austin, I will continue to drive to Oak Springs. Our animals are treated like family in our household, and I totally trust and know that they will be in great hands with Dr. Varga and Dr. Donop. It is such a relief when you find a good vet. Thank guys for all you did and continue to do for us.

Also, the weekend hours/weekday hours are convenient for those of us who work full time!

Great Veterinary service. We agreed to take care of our son's dog while he was out of the country begining April of 2008. Cooper, the dog, had been diagnosed with lymphoma May of 2007. Dr. Donop and his office staff have been absolutely wonderful in helping us with Cooper. Cooper, I am glad to say, has been doing well even three years after his diagnosis of lymphoma. He has been out of remission twice but Dr. Donop and his staff have guided us in the care and treatment of Cooper even though we do not live in the area. We are grateful to have Dr. Donop and his staff support us in Cooper's care. Cooper still loves to run, play, swim and chase his ball. If we could, he'd do it all day!

This is the TOP DOG of veterinary care!. Oak Springs Diagnostic Veterinary Hospital can do it all- high tech diagnostics and imagining, in house lab, dental, advanced surgery, preventive care, you name it! I found them to be a group of passionate professionals committed to my pet's total health. Our Vet is Dr. Jeremy Varga and he's EXCEPTIONAL! I adopted my dog through their rescue program, "Wags 2 Riches". What a truly wonderful clinic.

Rip Off. This is another typical vet that looks to charge you a fortune for every little thing they do. I had a dog with a simple UTI and they did $500 worth of tests to diagnose it. This clinic gives vets a bad name; they care about raking in their dollars than they do about your pet. Pet owners who go to such clinics are at a disadvantage because they feel guilty about not shelling out dollars to care for their pet, but trust me there's better out there.

Too Expensive!. If you don't like money, then I highly recommend taking your pet to the Oak Springs Vet Clinic.

We took a sluggish cat to the vet and they recommended $500 worth of tests to diagnose the problem. The cat clearly wasn't himself and we were afraid for his health so we agreed to the tests.

I'm no vet, but I'm pretty sure you don't need to do a urinalysis or full bloodwork to diagnose a hernia. When I tried to address my concern about the excessive testing and costs with Cindy, the office manager, she was not at all interested in hearing me out.

So I was out $500 and had a cat with a hernia. I asked Oak Springs how much the surgery would be and they said between $1,100 and $1,300. I was obviously not happy with that so I called around and found a vet that did the surgery for $90. $90!!! The hernia surgery for less than 1/5th the price of the diagnosis at Oak Springs.

I'll admit that the $90 vet was out in the country and their facilities aren't as nice, but the vet graduated from A&M vet school and had been practicing for many years. The people there were obviously animal lovers and took great care of the cat.

My cat is back to 100% and I have an extra $1,000 in my pocket thanks to a vet that cares enough about my animal to make his medical care affordable.

Great veterinary find!. I just took one of my two cats to Oak Springs Veterinary Hospital for a dental cleaning. We recently moved and this is a great location for us, right on 290 West. My cat is 16 years old, so I was very nervous, but the staff put me right at ease and they were very gentle and reassuring to her. The office is professional and clean, and I especially like the separate entrances for cats and dogs. I received a phone call as soon as she was out of the anesthetic to let me know she was fine. As far as the gentlemen who felt this place is overpriced, I disagree. Based on my past vet experiences, I think they are reasonably priced for a professional veterinary hospital. They charged me exactly what they estimated, and did not try to sell me any extra products or services, which I appreciated. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone in southwest Austin.

Fantastic veterinarians!. We used these veterinarians for 3 years before moving out of state. All of the doctors we saw were fantastic. They made both of our cats feel comfortable and beautiful, and when they complimented the cats, they seemed to mean every word they said! Although they may be pricier than some other vets, the service was always great. I always felt like our animals were in good hands, and completely trusted any recommendation they made. They never recommended anything that wasn't necessary and we were always treated with excellent customer care.

Most loving animal hospital I have ever been to.. I have never been more impressed with a veterinary hospital, it's facilities, or it's staff. They are highly organized. The staff truly cares for your pet and wants them to be healthy and happy. There diagnoastic equipment is top-notch. They even have a cat-(and dog)scan machine and an MRI!! When my pet was injured they were so kind and compassionate. The staff follows up not just the day after a procedure, but the week after, then the month after. No human doctor even does that. I would go to this clinic for my own medical care if they accepted humans. It is sooo clean, I never even smell dog urine, like I do at my own house.

I cannot say enough about Cyndy, the office manager. The vets at this clinic are sooso lucky to have her. She keeps everything running smoothly. Even when there are dogs barking, phones ringing, people talking, she never loses her calm demeanor. The people who bring their animals there are obviously so comfortable with her, they love her.

Now that I have ranted and raved, you be the judge. If your pet is as important to you as mine are to me, then you want only the best for them, and Oak Springs is definitely the best.

Very Expensive. These guy like to collect Vet toys and want you to pay for them. Because all of the lab work is done in house, you have to PAY twice what most other vets charge. Your dog can wait a day, for most test results. Sorry I found another more $ friendly vet.

Great Vet care!!!. The Vets and staff at Oak Springs are the best. As an owner of 4 dogs, I have seen my share of vet clinics, but have NEVER been to a clinic where the dignostics and the care of the animals is even close to the service I received at Oak Springs. The state of the art equipment, and the knowledgeable staff make it the place to go for great vet care.
