After going to other day care and boarding facilities, we have found Highmark Kennel to be the best fit for us and our dog. At other places, she would either come home: 1) insanely energetic or 2) crazy. We determined it was because 1) at some places, she barely was let out to run and play 2) she was out with too many other dogs and little supervision. She picked up bad habits from other dogs at another location and the change in her behavior and personality was scary. We changed to Highmark Kennel, and within a couple of weeks, we got our dog back. It is amazing but understandable to realize how much a day care/boarding environment plays into the behavior of your dog, but I guess it's like kids and the circles of friends they have. We switched to Highmark also bc of their prices and flexibility to go when you want, no package or pre-paid deal needed to get a $9 per day rate for day care, and low 20s for boarding. At other places, our dog would also come home with all kinds of medical stuff that she clearly picked up from being around so many other dogs. Now, at Highmark, she's only with two or three other dogs at a time. So things aren't as crazy and medically, there is less chance of spreading something. The staff at Highmark Kennel are WONDERFUL. They use training techniques when they walk her from the receiptionist area to the dog area. Our dog is better about waiting at doors and not pulling on leashes since the Highmark Kennel staff reinforce the training. I also feel more comfortable knowing that, when we board our dog, the owner is on property at night. Our dog comes home more tired and content than any other place we've taken her to for boarding and day care. And she isn't ever insanely energetic or crazy any longer. To me, this is the true test of how effective a day care/boarding facility is. All around, Highmark is the best option we have found for our dog. HIGHLY suggest taking your dog here!!!

I do NOT recommend Highmark Kennel for grooming! After paying $50., I picked up my dog who was still matted and more importantly whose long hair was chopped off her head without consulting me. (about 4 inches). That should take about 4 mos. to grow out. I picked her up and was shocked. The receptionist said she would let the groomer know I was unhappy. After not receiving a phone call, 2 days later I called to inform them again of my disappointment. I was told they were sorry, she was new and they would note it in the file for next time. Of course...there will be no next time! They did not take my concern seriously and did not try to make it up in any way. $50. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Pros: Heard it was nice to board pets

Cons: Terrible grooming service
