Best kept secret in town. Sometimes it's the out-of-the-way places that are the best and El Jacalito is in that category. I've frequented this restaurant for over six years and I've never, ever been disappointed. The breakfast plates are always hot, tasty, and filling. Lunch and Dinner selections are well made with a full menu of traditional tex-mex and true interior mexican dishes to choose from. The staff here is always friendly (not much English spoken) and the owner takes his time visiting with patrons and creates a nice rapport with each customer. Every Sunday morning the music (loud if you sit too close) provides a nice atmosphere to this really cozy, family owned and operated, restaurant. So, don't go here...because if this place ever gets the recognition it deserves, I won't get a seat at the table!

Friendly folks and Great Food. One of your more authentic Mexican restaurants in Austin. It's not south of the border good, but it will do. A great place to have breakfast on the weekends!
