Would never go here again..
I came from Houston wanting some Vietnamese food in Austin. I am Vietnamese and I have to say that this is no where close to authentic (i guess that's not too surprising). i don't mind good americanized food, but this food here is just nasty. the rice is too dry, so is the vermicilli. i had 2 traditional Vietnamese dishes, and they were both failures. it seemed like this restaurant is trying to cut corners on quality. the food seemed like it all came from a can, and the fish fillets were not high quality. it wasn't even whole fish on bone. just not traditional, nor authentic. it was terrible. i really wanted to have some good homemade Vietnamese food or even Chinese food, but since i picked one of the most traditional dishes on the menu, i can predict that none of the other dishes are up to par as well. i will never go back, EVER. the service was also very bad! i was surprised at how cold and stand-offish the workers there were to me. the only nice person was a Mexican man. the Vietnamese people there were so rude. unless you have no knack of what real Vietnamese food should taste like, i guess you wouldn't mind going here. i think that's what the people that go there are. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT REAL ASIAN FOOD! you definitely won't find the Houston food you're looking for here either.
edit: I CANNOT believe this place has such a high star. please please beware. if your wanting REAL vietnamese food, that 4 star or whatever is going to fool you.
Good, Very Good. I Recently ordered delivery from Hao Hao Restaurant . I order the Vietnamese Hot n' Sour Soup.It was by far the best vietnamese, hot n' sour soup i have ever had.THere service is great also, on the phone, they made sure that my order was correct by repeating it twice, the same with the address. Good , Very good.
The BEST sesame chicken I HAVE EVER TASTED!!!!!. Last week, one of my fellow workers, took me out for some Chinese and Veitnamese food at Hao Hao. I ordered the Sesame chicken, because i usually order that at other chinese restuarants. This one was especially good, and the service is great, i will defenatly come back and bring my family.
I really can't believe it.
I have been a cusotmer of the Hao Hao for seven years. I was one of those who would be upset on monday nights when I would dial only to realize they were closed. Viet and Chinese always a crowd pleaser
The delivery was quick. Once I opened the bag I realized that one of the entrees was not the sesame shrimp I ordered. I called them back and told the lady who answered of the mistake. She said we had recieved peppery shrimp. I told her it wasn't what I ordered and she said they would be by withthe correct food to replace it. About three minutes later my phone rang. This time a man was on the other end and he told me that I had not ordered sesame shrimp but instead had ordered peppery shrimp. He said that he wrote down what he heard and I said peppery shrimp. I told him I didn't even know what peppery shrimp was so how could I have ordered it. He again insisted that I said peppery because thats what he rang in. I said he must have misheard me, he said he did not and that it was my problem and that he was right
I have been in the restaturant business for twenty years and have seen many people relieved of their duty for lesser encounters with customers. Whether or not I was right or wrong, and I know I was right but it isn't the point, restaurant employees are not to argue a point, they are to fix the problem and satisfy the guest. At this point I became irate and told him I didn't order something I hadn't heard of and just wanted it fixed. I hung up and called back to talk to a manager. The woman answered and I told her that her employee called me to argue his point, tell me I was wrong and berate me. All I wanted was my food and now an apology. I told her that there was no excuse for her employees behavior. Then the man got on again saying I would not get my food because of the way I was treating them. What? Any place run as haphazardously as the Hao should not be patronized, they don't care about their customers, who knows what they let happen to their food
second worst pho ever tasted. I stopped in for a late lunch, and went for the traditional vietnamese pho. It was the second worst pho i had ever tasted. I have had pho in many different cities in the US, and this place is among the worst. The noodles and meat were too chewy and toughy, and the meat was cut too thickly. I would not recommend this place to anyone, considering that they can't even come close to making a vietnamese staple tasty.
worst customer service. called in last nite for pick up...the woman with the accent took my order for the canh chu ga ( chicken hot and sour vietnamese soup), I then asked if they could put the bean sprouts and other vegetables on the side so they would not be soggy, she responded with "Not tonight, any other night but they were busy and she did not want to get confused". I then said never mind and hung up. Very poor customer service. I will have to look for my "soup" elsewhere. They lost my business forever!!!
Best spring rolls in austin!!. I recently moved to austin, and I was looking for a good vietnamese restaurant to eat at. Then my neighbor recomended Hao Hao,it was great!!! I had the vietnamese eggrolls ,it was delicous! Then I had the spring rolls they had wonderful peanut sauce. The food was fresh the service was helpful,I will definitetly come back!!! I give it a 10!!!
Don't waste your time driving to this place!!!. They only have one waiter to work the entire place and the food isn't good at all. The crab puffs were alot of fried puff with little crab. DO NOT get the chef's special beef. It is like eating beef jerky without any flavor. Plus I had to wait for a half hour to get it because only one waiter is taking care of 20 tables. Prices aren't great either.
