The modest strip center location and bare-bones interior gives a thrifty feel to this South Austin bookstore. The paperback-only inventory might be initially overwhelming, with floor-to-ceiling shelves stacked to the brim, but regular readers who know a bargain dive right in to the genre-organized stacks to find half-priced must-haves. Book Exchange offers a discounted trade-in deal--bring in gently-used paperbacks and get an additional 25-percent off the same quantity of replacement paperbacks.

A Really Good Deal. They give you 75% off of the book price if you bring a book to trade...and they accept every paperback you bring even if they have overstocks. Every book is shelved (not just the high-priced ones) so you can find tons of books for 25 cents. It's the best deal in Austin. The Sci-Fi and Romance sections are huge.
