Beware and Compare. First time reviewer but feel compelled to so others are not taken advantage of... took '05 Tahoe for oil leak. Received $1500 repair quote - majority of work was due to a leak in the rear main plate and would require the removal of the transmission which translates to several labor hours. After further research realized that the quote was $300-500 higher then other shops would charged so declined the service. EXTREMELY happy that we did ... because in the end the repair cost $300. We found that the 'rear main plate' was 'bone dry'. Left a voice message for service manager ... doubt I will get a return call. Wished I read reviews before taking car in - but at least we can say one thing about the service department - it is consistent - consistently awful.
Capitol Chevrolet-Maserati prices for piss poor workmanship.
This is the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership. I brought my van to Capitol Chevrolet on 5/7/11 to have a set of keys made (they are the chip kind). I was told that work would commence on monday and it would take about an hour. Well, for the next 6 days I was fed a string of excuses and promised every day that my van would be ready "tomorrow". On 5/13/11 I called them once more and was asking about the "progress" of my vehicle.....well I was in the middle of being given another line of bull when my mother grabbed the phone and unleashed the kind of fury I should have let them have days ago......and suddenly my car was going to be ready in 20mins.
Wow. Almost a week for keys....I should have turned into a raving looney days before....I might have gotten service sooner.
But this is not the worst part. Three days after I get my van back it completely dies on me. It wouldn't even turn over. I keep my van in pristine running order, and it was in top form when I dropped it off. I called them to ask "whiskey, tango, foxtrot, over" and they try to pin it on me....naturally.
What they had done (or didn't do) was improperly reattach the lead to my battery. It was barely hanging on and the terminal cover was bent all the way back leaving the lead exposed. So this was not a case of "it came loose", it was deliberately disconnected.....and then put back on sloppily.....this could have given out on me in the middle of traffic while I was carrying my baby, leaving me stranded. They should count their lucky stars it just left me stranded in the driveway.
They claim the battery had nothing to do with their install of the new key.....even if their claim holds true; if they really did the thorough 20-something point inspection they printed out on my receipt then they must have been BLIND not to see this.
I will never bring my vehicle to this dealership again. I will never purchase a vehicle from them, and family will never purchase a vehicle from these people again (they have in years past). And I will make it a point to tell anyone who will listen and rating site this story.
crapy service. My fiance traded his car for a SUV that was in great condition. But now that we are trying to get our very first inspection done it wont pass cause they sold us a car that had to dark of tint. We thought when we bought it hey if the car dealer ship is selling it to us like this it must be ok. Come to find out its not. So i went in to ask why they sold us a car that they knew wouldnt pass inspection. And instead of getting help i had a jerk come up to me and start saying " well how do we know you didnt take the car after you bought it and got the tint like that, how do we know we sold it to you like that" and "well the guy who sold you the car isnt here anymore, so this isnt my fault". what the jerk-off didnt get through his head was that the Lot sold us the car doesnt matter who it was. They know the law! They are nice when your geting a car but as soon as something goes wrong all that goes out the window!
Excellent service at a reasonable price!. Last Thursday I called to set up an appointment for Monday because my truck was making a wretched noise. It had this vibration for the last few months but none of the 4 mechanics I took it too could diagnose the problem. Friday, as I sat in the drive thru at McDonalds, the noise was so bad they asked me to turn my truck off so they could hear me! I was so humiliated, I called and told them my truck was being dropped off right away. I was stunned when my service advisor, Bill Arrellano, bent under my truck and stopped the noise, diagnosing it within SECONDS! What ASE certified mechanics hadn't identified for months, was figured out immediately by Bill. He actually called right away and let me know what was going on and when to pick up my truck. I've always gotten terrific service from them but hesitate to have stuff done when I think dealers are expensive, but they do it right. Also when I checked on pricing for my transmission fluid and filter change it was $40 cheaper than the independent repair shops I called! And Capitol was checking other things for FREE that I would have had to pay Meineke to check! What a deal! I'm recommending them to all of my friends.
Don't waste you time or money. Big disappointment.. If you want to spend tons of extra money fixing problems on your car that may or may not exist- then take it here to Capitol Chevy. I took my suburban here recently to have the a/c repaired. The dealership called me and told me that it was a bad compressor and with labor it would cost around $900 to repair. I thought hard (it's been hot lately in Austin and I wanted it fixed), and decided to take it down the street to Ben White Automotive per a friend's suggestion. They found that there was NOT ONE THING WRONG with the compressor- it was actually just a simple belt that broke off. I spent just under $100. I can't believe I was minutes away from fixing a problem that didn't even exist and spending over $700 more than I actually needed. If you want to get your car repaired correctly and with honesty- DON"T take it here- take it down the street to Ben White Automotive. You won't be disappointed!
