Weekdays buffet suck. Food is OKAY on the weekends..Weekdays are a ripp off....Food poisoning can happen...I know the tastee India food pretty well and believe me the food really sucks on some of the weekdays buffet...seems like leftovers from day before...save your money for something better or different....…
Excellent Indian Food. The best in Austin.. I am picky about restaurants, but this is incredible. The buffet is always fresh and clean and the food is absolutely wonderful. I fell in love with this restaurant 7 years ago when I was pregnant and had read that Indian food is good for the unborn baby. We ate here weekly and have loved it ever since. The owners are so nice and are hard-working and it is a Mom and Pop place. Very Austin-like. Very friendly. Very local. Very excellent. The atmosphere is o.k., but the food is so good, it makes up for it. The atmosphere at Clay Pit downtown is better, but the food can't compare to Bombay!…
Good Indian Food. Had dinner and ordered a combo with Sag Paneer, Naan, Daal and then also Lamb Biryani. Everything was great but definitely not the spiciest Indian I've had. Just good and tasty. Great service and location.…
Just plain bad. I love Indian food. Having just moved to the Austin area, I wanted to find a good Indian restaurant. My first attempt at the Bombay Grill was an abysmal failure. I'm generally not so harsh, but due to the discrepancy I found in reviews of this restaurant before dining there I wanted to be clear. It is not a good Indian restaurant in any facet. It's not terrible, you won't choke or die, and if you've never had Indian food before you won't hate it, but it is in no way good. The food lacked in spice and flavor. Everything was bland from the biryani to the curry. The mint chutney, usually a favorite dish of mine, was just bad. Even the chai was bad. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food, and if you've never had it, this is not the place to learn.…
Better options; would avoid.
I have ordered and dined in multiple times. In Southwest Austin, there are no alternatives. The quality of food has gone from being average to below/unacceptable. Seasonings are often off and I
suspect they are adding extra salt to "compensate." Service is slow but after all as a Buffet, you really don't need much from the wait staff, and the people there seem friendly and nice.
In last times w/ takeout orders however, they did not pack order correctly. Once gave me just the sauce w/out the Paneer, the "meat" of the meal. Other times, they did not pack securely; for me the last straw was when they forgot to put an aluminum foil cover between the lid and plastic bowl. WIthout this barrier the heat melted and broke the lid down so that we had to basically run the food through a colander to remove bits and pieces of plastic.
Hopefully, we'll get a decent alternative in this region, but I've decided for now that if I have to have Indian food, I will have to drive up to North Lamar.…
