Dark Evening Watching Dark Night in Auditorium #6.
1. Huh? What did he say? - Neither row of speakers on the walls were operational and only one channel of the stereo was working up front. Therefore, during the moments in the movie when music was mixed with dialog...you couldn't hear the dialog. You would have to be a lip reader to be able to make out what was said during these times. The overall sound was terrible. It reminded my of my clock radio speaker "system".
2. Look Sparkles! - During the first 40 minutes of the movies we saw what can only be described as sparkles on the lower-right hand qudrant of the screen. Pretty, but I'm guessing it wasn't part of the cinematographer's intent.
The theater experience reminded my of a small-town 70 theater. I'd expect better in 2008. The manager explained that not only did they know about the problems in auditorium #6 but they've decided to keep playing movies in it without permanent repairs because not enough people complain.
Well, count me as one. Fix auditorium #6.
Editorial Review. Movie theater inside Barton Square Mall offers first-run major releases. All auditoriums have stadium seating and wheelchair access.
Overall OK. Well this former General Cinema is a notch behind the other stadium seat theatres. The biggest thing to keep me from going here is price. Their matinees are a whopping $6.00. The seats are good, but are completely taken back by the lack of leg room. The presenation was crisp and the sound nice and clear.
Its gotten alot better..... This theatre has done a complete 360. It is clean, the staff is very friendly, and the presentation is great!!!
not GC. this theater is no longer GC it is now owned by AMC as GC was bought out b4 august .not that i defend their practice but that may be the reason they didn't take the pass. anyway it is just an avg theater it was a much better theater experience after it initally opened but it has gone down hill since then.
Bad Business. I just returned from driving across town to take my children to GC theatres. We had Post cereal passes that expire the end of August for both children. I even invited their Uncle so we'd perfectly follow the "Buy an adult pass/ get child's pass free" stipulation. The ticket girls casually discussed it while we waited and then said "nope, we don't take these anymore." I quickly pointed out that they didn't expire until the end of the month and to please consult their manager (where I was certain I'd be vindicated.) To my unpleasant surprise, he relayed through through the walkie to refuse the pass, and never even bothered to come and talk to me or explain. We ended up paying full price at 2:45pm! I was discouraged by the customer service I received, and will never return to that theatre while GC is still in charge.
