Tips for Church Services

August 08, 2013

I have had an AC maintenance contract with Christian Brothers for 7 years and also with the plumbing division when that was offered. All the people I have worked with have been very nice. The techs and office staff are very friendly and the techs are accommodating and very skilled.

There is, however, a serious problem with the schedulers. I have had many problems over the years but this is the most recent one. When it came time for my annual plumbing check-up, a scheduler called me. I mentioned that I also needed someone to install new faucets in two sinks and a tub. I was sure there wouldn't be adequate time for that during the annual check. But the scheduler said the plumber would be able to do all that in the one visit so we scheduled it. Chris Hayes was the plumber who came to my house and he has been wonderful. I needed a valve kit to go with my tub fixtures so he couldn't do the work that day. He wrote up the installation request, noting that it would take half a day. As soon as I had purchased the valves, I called Church to schedule the installation. I asked for Chris to be the installer and said he had told me that it would be a half-day job. My arrival window was from 1:00 to 5:00. Chris called me at 4:00 when he finished his previous job and said he was at least an hour and a half or even two hours away from my house. He said he would come gladly but he didn't think I would want him at my house for the whole evening. We agreed that he would come the next day around noon. He arrived about that time and it did, indeed, take several hours to do the job. We ran into some unforeseen problems and Chris will have to return to finish it after I take care of the problems. I will certainly request him and trust him to do the job properly but I dread going through the schedulers again. More often than not, they don't allow enough time for the techs to complete the work and there is confusion all around.

Follow-up, Aug. 8: I needed to talk to Chris the plumber about my on-going job. I called the company at 1:00 p.m. I was told he was in the field, on the phone. When he got off the phone, they would patch me in to him. I waited for over 3 hours and then called back. Another agent said he would send Chris a message to call me. This time he called back in a few minutes and he said he never got the first message. This is so typical of this company. I'm about to cancel all dealings with them.

I had a bad leak in my bath room and called Church Services. They sent out a guy named Chris and he did the job for me. He was professional, courteous and explained what he was doing in terms i could understand. He quoted a price and did not try to change it and did an awesome job for me. I will recommend this company to my friends and if i need a plumber again i will call them for sure. One other thing, they had scheduled a time to come out but unfortunately ended up not being able to come at that time, BUT they called me well in advance and asked if they could re-schedule. That sort of service is hard to find anymore. I am totally impressed with their customer service and professionalism and the plumber was awesome.

I used Christian Brothers AC for the Austin Energy Rebate program and could not have been happier. The HVAC Installation manager, Mark, made sure that all of the efforts were coordinated and everything passed inspection on the first attempt. Their prices were very reasonable for a quality product and their warranty cannot be beat. I was very happy with the process and outcome and will continue to use them more in the future.

Definitely NOT recommend them to anyone. Horrible customer services. We had to call them several times and yet still not receive our recipe for the services. Overpriced quote for the AC unit repair. When technician came up to the house, didn't even check everything and we had to pay for the service call for nothing had been done. DO NOT USE THEM!!!

We have used Christian Brothers for several years for our semi-annual mantainence. We suddenly started having some issues with the cooling and called to have the system checked. They reviewed the system and gave us a couple of options. We decided to replace the system. This was amazing. Everything went exactly as planned. The crew was very friendly and professional. It is refreshing to see a company that remains trustworthy. Thanks guys. Great job. Cool again.

We recently completed the installation and city inspection of a new air conditioning, heating, and air purification system from Christian Brothers Air Conditioning in Austin, Texas. Their engineer and installation manager helped us through the process, and their installers did a great job! We have a truly wonderful system that will cool, heat, and clean the air we breathe, as well as potentially keep the costs lower than ever before. We will know the true savings benefits by the end of this winter and the end of next summer. Christian Brothers has been our AC service provider for many years and we will continue with them for many years to come. Thank you Christian Brothers!

Was trying to prep my mom's house for sale when the A/C went out - and of course it was 95 outside. By the time I realized the A/C was the problem, it was 8:00 on a Saturday night. I haven't lived in Austin in 15 years, so I looked up some online reviews and called Christian Bros. Chris came within the hour, did some investigative work and told me the part that was out would be $1,200 to fix, but that the A/C was 26 years old (wow, way to go mom and dad!) and we may want to consider a new unit altogether - but he was more than willing to stay and replace the part that night if that's what I chose. I decided to wait for the estimate, and the next day (Sunday) I received a call from their salesman, had a quote within the hour, and the work was scheduled and completed by Tuesday. The service manager, Mark came out a week later for the inspection and was great as well. The office manager, Karen filled out the paperwork for the city rebate program and mailed it for me, which was one less thing I had to worry about and much appreciated.

These folks are fantastic and I would recommend them highly to anyone in need of fast, reliable and quality service with very competitive pricing.

Thanks, Christian Bros!

My A/C stopped two days ago and you know how fun that can be. I called Christian Brothers who have 7:30-19:30 hours before after hour charges apply. They sent Chris old over....He climbed into my attic to find a frozen motor and filthy coil. The estimate was just under $2000 but he had to come back the next morning after the block of ice had melted. I received a call at work around 8:30 and Chris told me it was a 10 amp capacitor causing my problem - $180.20!!!! He could have stayed with the original, and I would have gladly paid - it IS August in Austin.

The honesty is refreshing and appreciated.

Waiting 3 days for AC repair (it's 90+ in the house). First $600 trip didn't fix it. Now a $700 second trip is supposed to but we've been waiting all day - tech said he'd be here this morning & it's now 4:00pm $600 for a pc board with about $10 worth of components; $700 for a valve that probably costs $15. Not a happy camper Can't recommend 'em.

Ricky Ellis is an A/C Ninja and Customer Service Guru. Ricky came by to replace an air vent after we bought a unit from Christian Brothers. As he was putting in the vent, he noticed a missing cap on the drain line. Instead of putting in a service order, he went and bought the cap with his own money. That’s the kind of service that brings repeat business. Keep up the good work C Bros.
