Very interesting musuem inside the studio of the popular artist Elisabet Ney, who carved the statues of Stephen F Austin and Sam Houston in the Texas Capitol. Here you can see dozens of her works and see what life was like more than 100 years ago in Austin
A tribute to an artist ahead of her time..
In Short
One of the most romantic sights in Hyde Park is the castle-like home of Elisabet Ney, which is surrounded by a peaceful lawn where wistful walkers like to stop for picnics. Already famous for her likenesses of European notables, German-Born Ney used her talents to sculpt Texas figures like Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin. Her home holds over 100 pieces of her work and has stood as a public artistic center since 1911.
