Old-fashioned, greasy, fried-on-the-grill burgers in a no-frills setting. – In Short
This rough-around-the-edges burger-joint has been Austin owned and operated since its inception. Order at the counter, just like in the days of old. Those with droopy eyes and pounding heads opt for a greasy, hangover-fixin' breakfast of fried eggs, hash browns and salty sausage. Pancakes, cheesy omelettes and breakfast tacos are some other early morning favorites. Then there's the basics: Burgers, fries and thinly sliced onion rings, all washed down with thick chocolate shakes.
BEST HAMBURGER...... EVER !!!! – Just Moved to Austin 2 months ago. I tried it once after being in town after a week or so and now I am addicted. Hands down the best hamburger I've ever had. The only thing I don't like about Dan's is that it is not in my backyard.
Great Burger! – Simply put...they serve up a wonderful burger and awesome onion rings.
all-american food! – Dan's is as American as a fourth-of-july parade. This is the best place to get a burger, fries, and milkshake meal (don't miss out on the milkshakes!!). It's the perfect "fast-food" place--like what McDonalds should be, but isn't.
Great grease burger – Great burgers for those days when you ARE NOT counting calories. Reminds me of a great place in Houston. Fries are good and all is served in a funky dining room with funky people.
Breakfast & Much More! – Dan's has many different excellent breakfast choices, depending on what you might prefer. Their egg dishes are tasty and for old-fashioned Southerners, they have the best sausage gravy over bisquits available in Austin. Also, their prices are VERY reasonable.
Dan's is bad – Dan's Hamburgers are awful. Not much else to say after that.
A Lifetime of Burgers – When I was about ten years old, my eldest brother, who was in highschool at the time and familiar with all of the best places to catch a quick bite to eat, suggested to my parents that we go to Dan's Hamburgers. I remember thinking, "oh gosh, not another greesy hamburger joint." But to my surprise, Dan's was anything but. Sure it had all of the normal characteristics: a drive through window and three different sizes of hamburgers. But as soon as I had my first Dan's Hamburger, I knew it wouldn't be my last. Between the fresh toasted buns, the burger was juicy, and it tasted as if the meat had been prepared with that little extra something. The french-fries were crisp and light, and the staff friendly and couteous.
Fifteen years later, my family gets together every Saturday to have a burger at Dan's Hamburgers!
How hamburgers are supposed to taste – Exactly. This is how a hamburger is supposed to taste. A thin and wide griddle fried slab of grease. If you want more meat then just get a double. Nothing is worse than a giant flame broiled burger where there is no flavor and at Dan's they understand that. The milkshakes are great too. Be warned, it can be tricky at lunch as this establishments popularity sometimes outweighs its seating capabilities. Oh and don't come here for ambience, come here for the food, think of a really old Dairy Queen and that's what the place looks like.
Good Stuff – Really good..every time I'm in town this is the first place I go to.
