Small and always crowded, this Mexican find attracts all kinds, including nearby university students and professionals in transit. As the sign posted states, the lack of air-conditioning may be uncomfortable but it keeps costs down. To-go is popular as there are only a couple of tables available outdoors. Heaping breakfast tacos are the biggest hit with over seventeen varieties. The menu includes other standard Mexican dishes, like crispy tacos, migas, huevos rancheros and chalupas.

Headline says it all. Take a tums with you...but the food is great, prices are even better. Downside is the seating but hey, it's Austin...Pop the hatch on the back of your SUV, or pull down the tailgate and you are good to go. Mmm, i want a carne guisada right now.

This is what mexican food SHOULD be. Inexpensive, and tasty. I won't say everythings the best here, but the taco plate (3 tacos, beans, rice and 2 tortillas for $3.00) is a great deal for some tasty food. Toss in their homemade hot sauce and you have a killer deal. I stay away from the enchiladas and the migas, they're both a bit greasy to me. Overall, the price is unbeatable. Call-in your order to skip the line and you'll be in and out in 5 min. Not even fast food is that fast. Plus stop by for a breakfast taco, cheap and filling here too.

They should change the name, because they don't have tamales anymore. They have tacos (breakfast and regular), enchiladas, dinner plates, etc., but no tamales.

Know Before You Go:
Austin Tamale House is the perfect place to pick up breakfast for the office. They even accept call-ahead orders; and with their prices you can afford to pick up the tab.
Parking:
Although there is a parking lot, it fits only a few cars. Don't let that discourage you though, most just pick up to-go orders.
