Seemed fine...then rip-off central!. Wow. That's about all I can say. We bought a used tire from them for 35 bucks. Seemed fair at the time. Very long story short, two months and one new valve stem and TWO patches later (top quality used tire, right? And I looked at all of them, it was the best they had)....that used tire has now almost cost us the price of a NEW tire, except that tire would have a real warranty and all that other useful stuff.

To top it off, you would not believe the straight up lies they told me. "Oh, the owner is my father, no problem." Then there's a problem, and suddenly the manager says, "Oh, that guy left a few months ago."

I look at the guy's "son" and say, "But he's your father, right?"

And the guy looks me in the eye and says, "No."

After talking about the "family business" with me for five minutes. Wow. How do you lie like that and keep a business going?

Beyond unreal. Like used car salesmen, these guys seem like your best friend when they're selling you something. But when it's time to stand behind their product, and more importantly their WORD, they look all confused and say, "Uh, we thought you understood that just because someone who worked here said something, that doesn't mean it counts for anything tomorrow. Hell, he doesn't even work here any more."

Even though he told me he was part of the Olmeda family and has worked here and at the other Olmeda for years?

I sent a number of friends to these guys over the last few months, but after this will now do just the opposite.

AVOID THIS PLACE. Period.

And even if you need a patch, they charge 15 bucks.

Leal's down the street charges 7.

AVOID Olmeda Tire if you want HONEST service.

Love them!. The man who helped me was a Prince Among Men. Truly great service, not usually found in Austin, find it at St. John's and N. Lamar!

Great place. Hey I'm a long-time Austin resident and if nobody else is going to say a few good words about this place it I surely will; I love this place! It's great! I prefer to have new tires with the warranty and everything, but I'm often in a situation where I'm just not ready to spend a few hundred on new tires all the way around, say for example when I have a flat tire on the highway and it rips my tire to shreds, I put on the wobbly little spare tire that came with the care, and go to Olmeda's! It's like a drive-thru! My spanish isn't the greatest, and neither is their english always, but you don't need to say much, maybe point to which tire it is, if even that. Within a few minutes you're on your way! Prices vary but if my memory serves me correctly the cheapest tire I ever got from them was 10 or 15 dollars, the most I remember being charged was thirty, and it seems that I usually spend around 20-25 dollars for a tire that's used but in good shape. They didn't want to take my debit card, credit card or check so I always go with cash; and there's been a time or two when I've had less money than they originally asked for; but took what I offered. I think this place is the greatest, they've saved my life a few times.
