THESE PEOPLE ARE LIARS AND CHEATERS. I bought an expensive engagement ring over 10 years ago here because they guaranteed that if I brought the ring in every six months for an inspection, and a diamond ever came loose and was lost, they would replace it for free. Now they refuse to honor the agreement even though we have diligently brought it back for an inspection and have the records to prove it. Also, a couple of years ago they told us that we needed to have the settings rebuilt. We paid them a lot of money to rebuild the settings just to come back six months later and have them tell us the same thing again. We took it to another jeweler and she said we did not need to have the settings rebuilt.
Rude, lying, owner/managment, Poor quality products!! – I purchased my husband's wedding band there about a year ago. A beatuiful "titanium" ring with celtic knots on it. Upon purchasing I was assured that it was titanium and would not scratch break or bend. This is one of the big reasons I chose titanium. I specifically stressed that my husband's job is very labor intensive especially with his hands. Again I was assured it would stay shiny and beautiful .
Not less than 6 months later my husbands ring was so scratched you could not even see the celtic knots and looked like a piece of galvenized metal. I called the store to inquire about what we can do and spoke with a very nice, mature sounding woman. She told me to bring it in no problem and they would take care of it for us.
A few days later my husband takes his ring in. Unfortunately he did not receive the same nice woman instead an arrogant woman who said well he obviously did something to it to make it look like that and if he wanted a it fixed they would have to ship the old one off and pay $40 since he did not have the original receipt. My husband tried to explain to the woman what the nice woman I had spoke with said. And she replied well I don't know who you spoke with but they did not know what they were talking about. Frustrated my husband payed the $40 and was told he would get it back in about ten business days. A week and a half later my husband called to check on it and was told that it would then take another 2 weeks and that he probably won't have it back in tme for our 1 year anniversery. (Which he was promised that it would be being that our anniversary was more than 3 weeks out when he went in)
A few days later I found the original receipt and called to notify them that I would be bringing it in upon pick up to get our $40 refunded. At that time I was told it was not received until yesterday and was going to take 10 more business days to get back, at which time I became upset. Long story short I ended up speaking to "Bruce" who was to put it nicely, arrogant, rude, and the worst businessman I have EVER encountered. He kept cutting me off telling me I was yelling at him, even though the tone of my voice had not changed throughout our conversation, I told him I was speaking to him in my regular voice and even apologized if it was offensive to him. In which he replied "I feel sorry for you then if this how you always are" and told me he "would give me my money back if I promised to NEVER come in the store again!" All I was asking was for my $40 back since I found the origianl receipt and why it was taking so long and to please try and have it back in time for our anniversary. ( Which they had promised originally anyway) The only redeeming thing that took place in this conversation was I finally got to speak to "THE owner", Richard who was accommodating and helpful FINALLY! Yet he still offered no apologies for his rude assistant owner Bruce. Lesson learned....Don't buy ANYTHING from a store that's beeen "closing/moving" for the last 18 months" If I could give negative stars I would.
Avoid this place if you are looking for quality jewelery, and any kind of customer service.
Disappointing Experience – If all you are looking for in a jewelry store is friendly staff then this will fit the bill. If you want a place that knows how to treat customers, has professional staff, and has reasonable prices, don't even think about this place. I had an issue with my ring and tried to return it. The sales staff was not helpful at all. They did not even ask me why I wished to return the ring and even went so far as to say "[they] did not have to accept a return because my proposal had been rejected", when in fact the proposal had been very successful. I then had to directly work with the owner to try to get my ring returned.
In our conversation he apologized profusely for the staffs missteps before and said he would do anything he could to fix the problem. What he should have said was he would do anything except resolve the problem quickly. In the first place he would not refund my money, even only 2 weeks after the purchase. According to the staff a standard return policy for a jeweler is 10 days, which is not true. I reluctantly agreed to let him search for a stone which would be satisfactory and was told he could get some within the week. After several weeks of calling and asking what the status was he had still not found a diamond for me and finally revealed that he could not find a diamond that was what I was asking for (only 1 grade better in clarity) for near the price I paid. This does not show me that he was doing anything he could to resolve the issue. Regardless, against my better judgement I even offered to possibly pay a little bit more to get a larger stone in the hopes that it might be easier to find.
He did find a stone at this point (7 weeks after the initial visit to return the ring) and gave me the grades which I used to do price research both at online dealers and local stores before I went to look at the stone. The stone was good and when I asked for the price I was quoted about 1.5 times what the average I had found during my research was. Not only was the price outrageous but he had the nerve to tell me he could not lower it because he would not make any profit. Considering all the waiting and hassle this situation has caused I at least expected him to deal with me on the price. Please note that the current location is closing and they are supposed to be relocating but it WILL BE the same owner and staff.
Great Experience – I went into Americus Diamond last week and bought my wife some of the Pandora charms for her bracelet (also purchased at Americus Diamond). The staff was incredibly helpful in answering all my questions and helping me decide what she would like. They are amazing at finding what your loved one would like without even meeting that person. If you are wanting to surprise someone with something special and want that certain someone to be surprised, go to Americus Diamond. They are the best.
Great service! Beautiful work! – I was recently interested in resetting the diamond from my engagement ring. The original ring my husband gave, while very beautiful, was uncomfortable to wear on a regular basis. I visited six different jewelry stores looking for someone who would be able to reset the stone exactly like I wanted it.
Of course, Americus was my last stop but it should have been my first! Tara (who I had worked with before) showed me several options that would work, but in the end suggested a setting that matched my wedding band. Once I was ready to have the work done, I brought the ring in and Tino set the stone. All in about 4 hours! It was so fun to get my ring back the same day.
Also, a big plus with Americus is a children's playroom. This was nice to come in a talk jewelry with Tara while my 2 year old had a place to play quietly.
Thanks y'all! You have a customer for life!
Americus diamond was thefirst place I went to where I wasn't attacked by 2 to 3 different sales personnel. The individual who sold me the jewelry was patient, understanding of what I was looking for and overall just made the whole process easy. The actual jewelry inside was priced fair in comparison to other jewelry stores whos diamond are more exspensive and may or may not be certified diamonds. I highly recommend anyone looking for something special for their wife, girlfriend, husband or boyfriend make a stop by Americus Diamond.
Friendly, Fun and Fashionable – I have been a long time customer of Americus and would not shop jewelry anywhere else. Their staff is all knowledgeable and helpful. They have excellent service on purchases made from cleaning to repair. Their selection is unbeatable and their pricing is competitive. I will continue to recommend them to friends and family. Ask for Darci!
Best Jewelery Store in town!! – I have been all over Austin and have found a ton of low quality, low price jewelry. I LOVE jewelry but have high quality expectations. At Americus I have always found the highest quality at very good prices. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful! When they don’t have exactly what I want, they will order in, and I have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend checking them out if you are looking for great jewelry. The only other places in town that match their quality are outrageously priced! This little store is Austin’s hidden gem!
Where personalized customer service meets quality – I have been a customer of Americus Diamond for fourteen years and will not shop anywhere else. Their prices are low, quality is high, and selection is large. My favorite salesperson is Tara.
When my husband was buying my engagement ring, he planned to use a company he had used before. I convinced him to drop by Americus Diamond, since I knew their prices and quality are fantastic .
He was shocked at how much lower the prices were for the same or better quality. And, Tara made him feel at ease within a few minutes. She makes every purchase fun, and quickly figures out your jewelry style so she shows you things you like, and doesn't waste your time with things you don't like.
Thanks to their prices, I got a bigger ring for our budget. And, the experience with Tara was so great, my hubby has gone back for other special occasions. Yea!
By the way, I have referred a couple of family members and an associate, all of whom were really pleased.
Customer of Americus Diamond for Nine Years – I have been a customer of Americus Diamond for nine years now and have never been disappointed. I have also had the same sales person every time (ask for Darci she is the awesome). Some of the purchases include an engagement ring, custom earrings, and an anniversary ring. I always know I will get the highest quality at the best price. I recommend them to everyone. Americus thank you for making me look good.
