Honest, reliable, knowlegable vet!.
Dr. Spellman took good care of my cat for 14 years and I'm now taking my newly adopted dog to him. He has always been straight forward in his approach and doesn't try to do any unnecessary tests to keep costs down.
We just adopted a 2 year-old miniature schnauzer about a month ago. Within 2 weeks she became very ill. We had taken her to a vet that was about 10 min from our house. The vet suspected a pancreatic issue but that was ruled out and $700 later the vet still couldn't diagnose her and was recommending an MRI and possible exploratory surgery. I finally did what I should have in the first place and drove the longer distance to Dr. Spellman. He did say that based on the way she presented that he would have initially thought it was a pancreatic issue, too. However, with that ruled out, he was able to re-evaluate and diagnose her with a back injury. Now with two weeks of bed rest (read being crated) she is as good as new. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. I recommend him to anyone that is needing a new vet.
