GREAT EXPERIENCE. I just moved from New York 2 weeks ago and heard alot about Taj Grocery in New York so as soon as i landed in Austin the next day i decided to check out the store and What a great experience i had, awesome store big and great it has all the things that you need at a very low prices. The employers are very friendly. And most of the vegetables are damn cheap and good quality it bits other stores prices.

HOUSE OF EXPIRED FOOD. No doubts: HOUSE OF EXPIRED PRODUCTS. I was shopping there last week and found many expired products, including refrigerated naan (type of bread), which had gone GREEN so bad it was; and loads of products without expiration date.

I purchased 3 packets of Indian snacks and all of them were already bad - smelling and tasting bad. Unfortunately, I figured it out when I was already at home.

don't shop there. I bought some ice cream there and didn't pay attention to any expiration date. When I ate it the next day it was bad like it had been sitting in the freezer for a long long time. I took it back to the store with my receipt and they wouldn't exchange it for a fresh one. The icecream cost $8.99 and the person at the owner just didn't care. Said they just don't take back icecream. I told him I was bringing it back because it was bad and just want him to give me a fresh one. He didn't budge. SO I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN AND HOPE OTHER PEOPLE DON'T EITHER. This store obviously sells expired food items.

Authentic Indian/Pakistani groceries, plus vegetarian Indian cuisine next door.. In Short
The sizeable Taj offers fresh, prepared and frozen foods. Mixes and canned goods include soups (tamarind), pakoras (lentil fritters), palak paneer (spinach/cheese combination) and rice kheer (dessert with nuts, raisins and saffron). Taj stocks all kinds of bread, from chapatti to naan. Other choices include jasmine or basmati rice, plus cashew raisin or pistachio ice cream. Produce includes mangoes, guavas and okra; a huge spice selection features coconut powder and methi seeds and powder.
