This cozy Rosedale bakery is a treat on weekends. The black gold cookie is the number sweet, but the tomato bacon quiche is the highlight of savory options.
A central Austin favorite, with pastries, breads, and more, all made from scratch, sans preservatives. The smell alone will send you to carb heaven.
If your hot chocolate tastes veer toward the light and frothy, this cup is for you: Upper Crust makes a mug that is cappuccino-like in consistency, and pairs nicely with a slice of their moist Lemon Buttermilk cake. Of course, their Black Gold cookie pairs nicely with anything, including a second portion of itself.
Great breakfasting spot. This wonderful little bakery serves up fantastic cinnamon rolls and other treats. A great place to have a cup of coffee and enjoy a weekend morning.
We missed breakfast. We arrived a tad late and all of the breakfast pastries were sold out, including the croissants. We did decide to order lunch sandwiches as well as a couple slices of cake. The egg salad and avocado sandwiches we ate were pretty light and fresh. As far as the cake we had, the Marisa cake maybe could have used more strawberries but was still wonderful. The mocha almond cake was not too chocolatey or sweet, but the icing was too dense and heavy to fully enjoy. As far as the atmosphere, it's a quaint cafe with a descent number of tables to sit and a friendly staff. All in all, we would definitely make a return visit to try other things and make it a point to go earlier next time.
best cinnamon rolls.
I love the baked goods and the bread
I love it for lunch. I wish they would open another location closer to me.
Sometimes the parking can be a pain.
Wonderful food, wonderful people.
Things I like about Upper Crust:
Self-serve iced coffee
The friendly and personable employees
The pastries, pastries, pastries!
The atmosphere is a little dated, or a little worn, but that doesn't bother me too much. They could do a bit to make everything look more sturdy, but it's not too distracting.
Love the cheese soup!. the best cheese soup i've had. reminds me of being a kid on a cold day. can't wait to try their pastries, they look delicious. really like the scene here. very casual and unpretentious.
Yummmmm!. I love Upper Crust! They have the best pasteries in Austin if not the world! The interior and decor is very inviting and cozy feeling. I love to come sit on the patio, sip a cup of coffee and enjoy a crouissant or indulge in a cinnamon roll. No complaints here!
Great Lunch Spot. While most people think of the Upper Crust as a place to spend those idle morning hours sipping coffee, reading the paper, or visiting with friends, I like to frequent the bakery for lunch. You can get the most delicious sandwiches. Everything is fresh and the bread is right out of the oven. The prices are reasonable and the service is fairly quick. I highly suggest this place for a lunch with friends or a lunch-time pick up for the office.
Great Neighborhood Bakery. The Uppercrust Bakery is a refreshing change of pace from the masses of corporate coffee places popping up on every street corner. The Upper Crust is very inviting and cozy feeling. You can enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or tea at a number of the tables inside or enjoy the nice weather on the quaint patio area. The aromas that greet you when you walk in the door are intoxicating and the staff is always friendly and hospitable. A true jem!
big turn off. Upper Crust is well known and has been open for a long time, the chocolate cupcake was moist. But the food was really disappointing and i received a refund from them. The hibiscus tea was watery, the chips were stale, the salsa was bitter, and the avacado on my sandwhich was brown. The sandwhich was bland. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.
can you say super yummy breakfast?. I love this place. It's classy, quick and comfortable. Everything is delicious especially the marble cupcakes and breakfast pastries. The fresh and beautiful cakes are always a tempting treat. Mmmmm.
