Awesome BBQ, reminds me of home!. I love BBQ but its really hard to find a good BBQ joint these days. Now days its all fancied up and expensive. The Pit is how BBQ should be served up at the counter in a dimly lit little shack. Now by that I dont mean its a bad thing, its an AUTHENTIC thing! The meat is cooked just right and the prices are great! The chopped beef sandwhiches are the best in Texas and a great deal at 3 for 5 dollars! They remind me of home.

Best bbq in central austin. There's a lot of good BBQ in austin. But try the pit, you'll be happy you did

Great Small Barbque Joint. The Pit is a low-ceiling smoky affair. Perfect for authentic barbeque --- excellent brisket and sausage. Great sauce. Good sides ? potato salad and beans. You are offered a choice of white bread or wheat bread. Even if you are a ?granola chomper? (I am), barbeque is best with out-of-the bag white bread. The Pit is one of the few places in town (and you have to be a native Texan to get this one) that has an ice maker that produces shaved ice. It makes those soft drinks oh so perfect. Peach cobbler and banana pudding are above average.
