Frisco Shop Hits the Skids. I have eaten at the Nighthawk restaurants since 1965. Last Saturday I went to the Frisco Shop for lunch and ordered the 12 oz. sirloin strip which I have eaten for many years. I found that things have changed since the last time I ate there. The condiments for the baked potato used to be served by the waitress from metal containers. They are now packaged and brought on a small plate. The steak arrived and was a disappointment. It used to be a thick, juicy cut of meat. It is now a very thinly cut piece of inferior beef. I ordered banana cream pie which contained filling with no bananas. "There is nothing accidental about quality" is what Harry Aiken used to say, and he is probably spinning in his grave. Just like the revived Hill's Restaurant, Bob Cole has now given the Frisco Shop his stamp of mediocrity. Tradition is what these restaurants are based on. Without the quality they are just a name. Let's hope he doesn't get his hands on Dirty's.

Austin Classic!. My family and I have been eating at The Frisco Shop for years! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. The Frisco Shop serves up the best, juciest burgers in Austin, which you can't get anywhere else. Also, I just recently went in and tried their new Steak Salad which was excellent. I love how they are introducing new, healthier options to the menu, but still holding on to their old classics. Definately check this place out if you haven't already! I promise, it will quickly become one of you favorites!

An Austin Icon. What a great place to kick back and enjoy Austin old school. Chicken fried Ribeye was cooked to perfection. Grilled Cheese like mom used to make. Chop Steak with Frisco seasoned butter reminds you of when you were a kid. Best fruit pie in town. Friendly staff. This place rocks!

THE BEST PIE IN AUSTIN, TX!!!. THIS AUSTIN ICON IS JUST REALLY DELICIOUS. THE FRIED SHRIMP ON FRIDAYS AND THE FRIED OYSTERS ON SATURDAYS ARE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. AND THE PIE...OH MY, THE PIE. IT IS SO GOOD AND SO FRESH EVERY TIME WE ORDER IT.

I LIKE TO SUPPORT LOCALLY OWNED BUSINESS, AND THIS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE. AND I LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU SEAT YOURSELF, BECAUSE YOU ALWAYS GET THE TABLE YOU WANT!!!

Ya might like it if.... Ya might like it if you've live in Austin all your life and ate there as a kid, but the new Frisco location does nothing for this place. A "seat yourself policy" leaving our large party wandering the restaurant looking for a big enough table was my 1st turn-off. After that it was just downhill till we finally got to leave. Honoring their longtime patrons, I found myself looking at more family photos on the menu than actual menu items. As the staff cleans & re-sets the tables, they pre-place the silverware, unwrapped, on each table waiting for new customers. That left me wondering who had handled or sneezed on my silverware before I got there. Again I was shocked by the menu because of prices. If you've ever had a frozen Night Hawk dinner, that's about what you get for 11 bucks, and it tastes the same. Our orders were placed just before 6pm (we had a 5 person party), food was brought to our table around 6:35-6:40- so not quite an hour, and the restaurant was only about half full so I don't think kitchen back-up was an isse... And as we left the other customers definitley let us know we weren't regulars by looking in our direction our entire walk from the table to the door. Will give 1 star for the politeness of our waitress. A place I will never return to.

Stick to their TV dinners, at least the food will be hot!. While I realize this place is an Austin favorite, I was not impressed at all. One of my friends had heard it received good reviews, so I thought, let's give it a try. We arrived around 12:15 on a Friday, so it was busy but we were seated within 10 minutes, that was the only positive thing about our visit. I ordered a cheeseburger, pretty basic nothing special and it bragged about a toasted bun on the menu, oh did I mention the burger is 5.25 a la carte, so I'm thinking a $5 burger, this must be good! I'm giddy with anticipation, then the food arrives. Talk about a dissapointment, the bun was cold, and the cheese was no where near being melted, it was as if they had just slapped it on the patty. The friend ordered fries, they were warm at best. Bottom line, I won't be going back to The Frisco.

Not the place to go if you want good food and good service.. The coffee was good and the waitress was very nice. However, the service was not what I expected since I had heard so many good things about the Frisco. The food was not hot because they do not have heat lamps to keep the food hot. Heat lamps are essential for all restaurants, they need more help because by the time our food came, it was not hot. I ordered sourdough toast and I got Texas toast, I reminded the waitress that I had ordered sourdough and she said that Texas toast is sourdough at this resaturant ( Night Hawk), I told her that the cook needed to be educated about the differance between Texas toast and sourdough bread.

My chicken fried was the size of a three ounce hamburger patty. If you want a good breakfast don't go here. For twenty-five dollars I expect a great breakfast.

overrated.... After reading the review on Austin360 and some of the comments like.. "the onion rings were a life changing expierience".. I felt I could not pass it up. The line was huge when we arrived but the hostest was very orginized and had us seated in no time (20 min) and that is with us changing tables due to the ice box like front section facing the street. I had the "frisco " burger ..or like I descrided it to my wife a hommeade big mac minus one bun and one patty..the bun was cold ..I swear it was "special sacuce" and the cheese was not the least bit melted.. The onion rings were below avg. at best.. you can find better at any bowling alley in town.. the one highlight was the hamburger steak.. It was outstanding but bloody as heck. my wife refused to eat it and when she brought it to the waitress' attention she said "hum the little plastic thingy says well done"..I could not talk my wife into hanging around for dessert the bloody steak was all she could take .. So I got to eat the kids hamburger steaks and my wifes and I gave the rest of the big mac.. I mean Frisco burger to the homeless guy playing guitar outside..

You would be better off skipping The Frisco and pick up a Night Hawk dinner at the store,
