DO NOT GO TO JUST BRAKES!. I wanted to communicate my dissatisfaction with my transaction with Just Brakes. The specific location is at 7514 Burnet Rd in Austin, TX.

Please do yourself a favor and do not go there! From the reviews, it seems it is not just this location but all locations. I wish I read them here first...shame on me!

On May 19th, I went to Just Brakes on Burnet Rd in Austin for the $99.88 brake special. The technician said that the $99.88 special applies to 'most cases' and proceeded to tell me that because the store does not carry my specific pad, the cost would be $103 more.

I was in a situation where I had already dropped my wife off and now had 2 cars and he knew that I was in a bad situation. I told him to continue even though I did not really want him to. I should have gone with my gut feel and left at that point. Alas, I had faith that the cost would only be $200 and I was going to cut my losses and move forward.

Then, he tells me that he needs to do some more investigation which I asked why and he said that he needs to remove the pads to see the condition. He does that and informs me that the required (his exact words) service (specifically, not an option for me at this point) would now be $1,244 with tax and that he would not put the car back together because now he has identified 'safety issues' that will not allow him to put the brakes / tires back together and allow me to leave.

Basically, I was left in a situation where I either needed to get a tow truck or have him go forth with the service. I was in a bad situation with my wife's car now with me, my wife at work, me needing my vehicle. He took advantage of that situation. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like I had any choice or alternative.

The team performed the 'required' items (long list) and I finally received my vehicle back.

The company makes money by utilizing bait & switch tactics to get people in and take apart their car so that they have no choice. I would be very curious to know what the % of vehicles serviced is that actually qualifies for the $99.88 special...my guess is that the % is very low.

My $99.88 brake special turned into a $1,244 brake headache.

Don't let this happen to you. DO NOT GO TO JUST BRAKES!
