Southern-style comfort food like fried chicken and biscuits are the staples at this fast-food restaurant..
In Short
Church's Chicken first opened in 1952 across the street from the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, selling only fried chicken. Today, the restaurant has locations across the U.S., and offers a variety of Southern specialties. In addition to fried chicken, the menu features Crunchy Tenders (white-meat chicken strips) and Texas Chicken: a half chicken with char-grilled flavored seasonings. Sides include Honey Butter Biscuits, Jalapeno Cheese Bombers, mashed potatoes with gravy and fried okra.
Hot Chicken To Go!.
This is a funky, old Church's, very small. But
because it IS small, they can't store much chicken,
so it's usually still hot and crunchy. The people
who work there are great--you want some fresh,
hot fried okra?? They'll pop it in for you. This
is fast food that's fast, good, AND cheap. This is
a take-out only store--you stand outside in the
elements. But it's not that big a deal, and you
can sit in your car and they'll wave to you when
your order is ready. We love our Church's in
the 'hood!!
