Mixed review..
4/23/12: UPDATE: Well, Mike Depew went to the mat for us. I'm floored. Electrolux is replacing the lemon that's cost us $800 since we first bought it.
Depew renewed our faith in them in a way I never, ever expected. They were the reason we've done business with them for years -- and they will continue to be. I lost faith, I admit it. I was wrong.
Original Review:
Depew lets their sales people sell you on this brand or that brand with all kinds of folksy "This is the real deal" promises. They sold us a ridiculously expensive dishwasher claiming it would be the last dishwasher we'd ever want. Well, that's true. We bought the high-end Electrolux dishwasher they raved about. This lemon has gone out on us 2-3 times a year and Depew has charged us over $600 to keep the thing running. It was good money after bad. We paid $400 in January 2012 for another "fix" and it broke again after less than 90 days.…
Beware!. I used their appliance repair service to fix a dryer that was not heating. They came out when scheduled and completed the job as scheduled. The dryer worked but did not seem to function the same way that it had in the past. The dryer heated but it would ignite the gas with a loud rush periodically. It worked for about six months and then stopped heating again. I called them to see if they could fix the problem. They told me that the repair man that they sent out no longer worked for them and it would cost for them to come out again. I thought fine I will just buy another dryer rather than pay for another costly repair service that might or might not work. I bought a new dryer and had it installed;. When the other dryer was removed the cord to the old dryer had melted to the back of the dryer. WARNING! We were lucky that it did not cause a fire. The dryer was repaired poorly and this company is not willing to stand behind their repairs.…
Don't Stand Behind Their Products!. Beware of this appliance store. The products are sub-standard and the customer service is lower than poor. I purchased a washer/dryer set and paid top dollar willing to pay more for someone in the neighborhood and support local business in Austin. My dryer (purchased from them about 7 years ago) had caught on fire and I needed help. Naturally, in a desperate situation, I went to Depew - close to my house. I know now I was at their mercy. I was sold a washer and dryer set that is noted on the web as one of the worst products to buy. There are problems with the dryer - burning clothes, the grate being charred and a smoky odor. ( At the time of purchase, I was told that I was purchasing one of the best sets on the market and that were giving an incredible deal.) I called Depew and first was treated as if I was lying. They couldn't even find my records - from only 3 months before. My telephone number had changed and they said it was the only way to look up my account. After the contact at Depew being insulting, I was able to give every phone number I could remember for last few years. A tech came out and stated that the problem with the burned venting grate in the dryer drum was common and nothing to worry about. I wish I could attach a picture. Yesterday when stopping at the store, I wasn't acknowledged though I know that at least two people saw me - right in front of the desk. When I approached the desk, the telephone rang and the owner, I believe, answered the phone without even motioning to me that he was aware of my presence. I left the store. I will never return to Depew and cannot recommend them to anyone. They sell you something and forget they know you. In the meantime, the washer door now leaks and I certainly cannot call them. Beware, beware, beware.…
You are better off with REAL professionals than these folks!. Dont believe these other positive reviews about this company as they are obviously made by their own employees!! Truth is I hired them a year ago and this is my opportunity to give the community an honest feedback.. I like others on this review have never written a completely negative review on any service or company, but, wow...Depew Appliance is the WORST. I bought a refrig there a year and a half ago because I needed a very small, hard to find model to fit my space. I was having a $30k kitchen redo at the time, and I paid 1/2 up front, then never received any bill from Depew. I frankly forgot about the deal and know one at Depew every followed up by phone or mail until Over a YEAR had passed. The salesman Kenneth accused me on the phone of lying and avoiding my bill. Shocked I told him I would check my records and call him back. Within 10 minutes the owner Mike Depew pulled up to my house! Threatening me if I didn't pay him right there and then. It was like something out of a scene from a "hit man" type movie where the big guy comes over to a guy's house to "lean" on him to pay off his gambling debt! I'm not embellishing any of this! When I pointed out that it's been over a year since I bought the refrig, Mike just said "yeah yeah yeah...give me my money...you owe us." STAY AWAY FROM DEPEW APPLIANCE. BBB has already marked them a warning! Austin..Be wary hiring Depew.…
Beware of Depew Appliance Store -You will regret hiring them. I was in the area so I decided to stop and see if maybe they had a part that my mom needed for her stove. I went in was greated by them there were four people behind the counter all sitting down. A lady asked if she could help so I asked if her if they carried a receptor for a stove. She asked me what part of the stove it was, she didn't understand and I was explaining what part of the stove it was and there are like three people behind the desk trying to figure it out then a big fat guy got an attitude and said is that the receptor? Yes but I guess they didn't hear me when I mentioned that it was the receptor. Bad customer service and that dam hillbilly needs to think about the way he speaks to the customers or they won't buy. One of those fat asses should have gotten out of their chair ( I know its hard) came up to the counter to talk to me and to also show me the part instead of all of them trying to help. I didn't know who I was even talking to. Go to sears instead.…
