Tips for China Buffet

Good & Fair. The key thing to remember is that the price is cheap; with that being said the food is overall good most of the time, but there are times when it just sucks.

My family has been going to China Buffet since it first opened, and no the whole place still looks basically the same with several changes here and there (It used to be a Mexican Restaurant). Overall it's not all that bad inside and actually is quite relaxing if you give it a chance.

Remember when I said the food was good most of the time? Well, there have been times when I've gone in and either the food is just plain bad or cool or empty-- but ya know what I've noticed? It seems to only be this way on certain days when the more strict manager isn't around (I believe he is the one who does not wear the ball cap).

I went there 4 months ago and was disappointed, but you can't stop cravings and price and since most buffets are $9 or $10 up it gets pricey if you have more than 2 or 3 people with you and are on a fixed budget.

However, the last 3 or 4 times I've been there the food has been very hot and fresh and the service seems to have improved a lot. I went there today and let me tell you everything was fresh and tasted very good! If you're focused on price and taste then it's worth the trip, but don't be afraid to go to the manager to complain if it's bad because he seems to have his hands full with a few of the workers <3

One of the Worst. The food tasted like it was 3 days old. Including the prepackaged donuts!

Stay Away!. The unique experience of this buffet was that it was the WORST Chinese food we have ever eaten. We barely ate anything because each bite of each dish was worse than the previous one. Save your money, go get your food from a grocery store dumpster. We went home and made dinner.... A total disapointment, I wish that I had read this resteraunts reviews..... Head this warning. Do not expect much if you eat at this resteraunt. The time of day had nothing to do with the quality or taste of the food because it was only 6 PM and there was only two tables with four people at one and five people at the other table.

Very Disappointing!. I enjoy Chinese Buffets and so do my kids. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. I read the reviews but tried it anyway. First, the food was very bland and all the dishes tasted similar. They didn't have a unique dish whatsoever. I also took my 7 yr old and 4 yr old. With drinks (which I asked if they came with) came to $7 and $6 respectively. That's way too much for a 4 yr old that eats a couple bites at most.

Even the kids didn't like the icecream. I tried to voice my opinion in a constructive manner to the manager but he did not want to listen. I'll spend my $24 for us 3 elsewhere and suggest you do the same.

eeechhh. Got a buffet to go and after i had filled up my container half-way with old food, I realized my favorite dish was even older and nearly empty. I requested it and they complied, but not before filling up a hlaf dozen other dishes. plus, the lo-mein is spaghetti. seriously.

Good deal, nice staff. Service was good, I think it is run by a family. Has some of the better chinese food in Austin, and about $10 for the buffet and a soda (at dinner). Have asked a couple of times for them to make new dishes or more of a dish and they were very nice about it. They even brought some of the dish to me before they put it on the buffet. Nice home-like feeling, although the interior looks like it used to be a BBQ joint. Worth the $10!!

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. This popular lunch spot offers such a diverse and ever-changing menu. Most entrees are accompanied by two soups and desserts.
