Great Food, Great Price. You can't beat Tien Hong. Their food quality is consistently good and their vegetables are very fresh. Dim Sum is the best in Austin and Tien Hong is a great place to experiment because of their wide selection. The regular menu is full of tasty meals under 6-10 dollars - great for a college student, family, or anyone else on a budget. HUGE vegetarian selection also. It's good to finally see an authentic Chinese restaurant in Austin.
Authentic!. I've lived in China and this food is the real thing! Not "Americanized" and is really great! Even the atmosphere is authentic. For great Chinese, be sure that people of Chinese descent are dining there or don't waste your time and money.
where are the scallops???. I ordered their scallops with garlic sauce and was happy with the taste, but was unhappy with the quality. There were about 4-5 scallops and a heap of water chestnuts that looked like minature scallops used as a filler. The couple bites of scallops were wonderful.
Dim Sum lunch. I've only been to Tien Hong once, for the dim sum. Excellent variety, with fast and efficient service. The only downside was that the food wasn't quite as tasty as the dim sum at T&S Seafood. However, both the variety of the dishes and the number of employees on the floor were impressive.
Very good. I like Tien Hongs atmosphere quiet and the staff is very friendly. The food is very good and you are getting your money's worth. I highly recommend it...great first date place if he or she likes Chinese.
Best in town. Tien Hong has to be my favorite Chinese place in town. The staff is friendly, food is good, and lunch prices are cheap. I usually order take out and rarely can I finish the large portions. If you're looking for a consistently good and modestly priced chinese restaurant, give it a try.
Cheap and Cheerful.
Good value for money. I'm all about the wonton soup-that's how I gauge the restaurant's quality. The soup is good here, but China Sea, about 5 minutes away on Far West has them beat hands-down.
Lunch is very cheap--in and out for $6! Food tastes fresh, service is quick. The lighting is flourescent and is a tad on the gross side. It's not a good date place. Better to save it for someone you've known for a while.
They have cool front doors there, and I've heard the Dim Sum on the weekends is quite exceptional.
Excellent Chinese Food for a Good Price. Tien Hong is one of my favorite places to eat Chinese food. I would recommend it to anyone, for lunch or dinner. They have an extensive menu and great service.
