Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.

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

I've been going to this gym for about 7 years, 3 times a week and use the classes, weights, and machines. I have done the spin, body pump, body flow, yoga, aerobics, body step, pilates, body combat, training camp, and kickboxing classes. This is your basic gym. Weights, machines, and classes. There are no rock climbing walls, fancy children's playscapes, or heated pools. What you will find here are good old fashion loose weights, weight machines of all sorts, cardio machines, and classes for aerobics, spin, yoga, body flow/combat/step/pump. I dislike their sychronized classes (all the ones starting with Body) because I find them boring, or that there is too much risk of injury (you can hurt yourself trying to keep with the music on body pump if you are lifting weights to push yourself). Some people do like the classes though since they are supposed to be the same classes nation wide. I prefer the older high impact aerobics taught by some of their really good instructors. I haven't had a problem with broken machines since the gym is pretty good at fixing anything broken quickly. It is a smaller gym that is spread out and chopped into lots of rooms, so if it your first time there, you will need to walk around and visit each room to know where certain machines are located. The child care here is substandard, with just a TV set and a few toys. Nothing spectacular, and rather boring. Overall, if you are looking to work out, and just work out seriously, than this is a great gym for you. However, if you are wanting the glitz and glamour of working out at a prestigious place where people go to socialize and gab, then you may want to look elsewhere. PROS: a real, sweaty gym CONS: nothing fancy
