Get it in Writing!
For products and workmanship I give Spillar high marks. For customer service and salesmanship, well that's where the bar drops a bit.
Salesman Daniel Helton gave me a quote for several items and offered a 10% package discount if everything was done at one time. I got a written quote for over $1700 of items and scheduled the work. When I paid, the "discount" amounted to $40 off parts and a free part he left off the quote that I had to make a second trip to have installed. When asked about the offered discount, he told me the $40 was the discount and he doesn't discount labor. That with the "free" 7-way plug made the discount "like $150 off". $110 for a 7-way plug, are you kidding? I also bought other items which made my total bill over $2500. The offered 10% discount became $40 and fixing his own mistake. The offered package discount is what made Spillar the better deal over their competition.
I can understand not offering a discount in this economy but if you offer one, then honor it. I guess salesmen work on commission at Spillar...
IF you choose to take your business to Spillar, get EVERYTHING in writing up front. I'll be taking my future business elsewhere.
Great job. I will continue to take all my trucks there. They have helped me with both of my trucks. I am very happy with their service.
Bad Attitude. Terrible customer service. The person in the front acted like they were doing me a favor. I AM THEIR CUSTOMER, an intrgal part of how they stay in business. They can rest assure they will never touch my truck again and I'll be sure to tell my friends and family when it comes to Spillar Custom Hitches- TURN AROUND AND WALK THE OTHER WAY!
Great hitch, great service. Spillar Custom Hitched has high quality products and excellent customer service. I highly recommend them.
Steer Away. We wanted a receiver put on our truck, we found two places by Round Rock that did them. We picked Spillar as we thought that they were local and they have been here awhile and thought maybe they would do a better job then the National Chain. We thought WRONG!!!! First they installed it improperly to where the plug could barely reach. We went to use it for the first time after they fixed this problem and the brake system did not work!! So here we are all loaded up to go, and no brakes on the trailer! We had to go back again on our way out of town and I'm still not to sure if it's working properly to this day. Not only is their work crappy, so are their attitudes! While we were there someone else came in with something that had been done improperly, and the managers act like this is the norm...an every day occurance. After giving them right at $500 I would advise people to steer clear and opt for another choice. We need another hitch on another vehicle but we will not be letting them do the work, we are going elsewhere. We never even got an apology for having to go back twice to get it fixed.
