They went downhills since moved to the current location. Richmond Auto has been going downhills shortly after they moved to the current location.

When they were at the former place close to the current one, Richmond was effective on repair with good quality, reasonably priced while trying to save customer's money in all ways. I gave him my full trust and went that far to buy a car from him. I even handed him(or his son) a few of body works, though they didn't really do those back then.

After Richmond Auto moved to the current location, the service quality started dropping shortly and price went up. The recent case is a less than 2 year old power window motor Richmond put in just went out, and the warranty is one year. Richmond insisted on he has to open it up, which takes 30~40 minutes and costs $37.50, before he can give any conclusion whether it is due to the motor. On the contrary, Danny Luu took a quick look and indicated motor is the highly possible cause. The later repair proved it.

Back in 2008, I was quoted a unbelievably high price on certain repair. When I questioned Rich the front desk guy that I can get the part in less than 1/3 price on the street, I was told they won't warrant their work if so, and they insist on using the parts from their source to ensure the quality. I was told to pick up the car the next day if I don't intend to get it fixed, even though I was out of town on business trip. Though I disliked it, I didn't like the trouble to find somebody else to pick up the car, so I stayed with them. Ironically, I was charged $75 dollars as Diagnostic Fee...

All in all, I do not go to Richmond Auto any more. I found Luu Auto much more reliable and trustworthy, reasonably priced. And more importantly, Danny Luu cares about his customers. In a recent case of windshield replacement a few months ago, he acquired the part in lower price and passed the savings to me.

Horrible experience. I passed the shop everyday on my way to work and wanted to see what they would charge me to finish some body work on one of my cars. I went to the front office and spoke to the person at he front desk who I latter found out was the owner Richmond. He called his paint and body man Tim to the front office to give me a quote on the work. Tim stated that they would charge me $1500 to complete the work with a turn around time of 3 weeks. The price was about average from what I was quoted from other shops but the turn around time is what draw me in. The next day I dropped the car off to the shop and paid the requested $1500. I returned 3 weeks later to find that my car had not been moved from the original spot they parked it when I dropped it off. The front desk person stated that they had gotten backed up and my car would be done within a week, I excepted that and returned the next week and there still had not been anything done to my car. This time Tim the paint and body guy stated that he had some personal set backs and ensured me that the car would be done the following week, I returned the following week and my car was pulled in the work shop but no where near complete this went on for 3 months up until now. So today I went to pick up my car still not finished 3 months later and the money I had paid and Richmond stated that he had no record of what I paid to have done in his shop and needed to talk to his body and paint man Tim. I promptly told him I paid $1500 for body work and he stated that I would have to talk to his assist to resolve the issue. I would not recommend this very unprofessional shop to my worst enemy. The shop is very poorly manged and understaffed. Cheating you out of your money is there main concern and they have limit to how far they will go to ensure they get what they can out of you.

Went Joyriding in My Truck. Took my truck in on Friday, just happened to see it parked in some person's yard while doing errands on Sunday morning (it is a company truck with signage so there was no doubt). Manager denied it had ever left their shop. Won't do business with them anymore.

Never go to Richmond Automotive, they are shifty. Very bad experience. I took my '97 Honda Accord SW in with the engine light on. They checked it out, 'needed a catalytic converter' and there was an oil leak that could have been the oil pan BUT IT WAS SO BADLY RUSTED UNDERNEATH. it would cost an arm and a leg to do the work. So they talked me into trading for a '97 Mercury Sable SW.... I was recovering from a several month illness and was very vulnerable (I now realize). . Regretted decision and in four days insisted they return my car. To get it back I had to pay $300 for the trade in. Now I owned two cars, they would sell the Sable from the lot. After a month and 1/2 half and fully well I got the Sable and sold it myself, minus $600 of my 'investment'. The day I sold it I got a bill in the mail from Texas Tollway for toll fees incurred BY MY CAR while they had it. Furious i went and asked them to repay me. Also, I asked them to pay me $30 (a low estimate) for all the gas that they must have siphoned, from my Honda and twice from the Mercury. Each time I picked up the Mercury it was empty and it's gas gauge light was on. They refused.

I must admit I lit into them and I'm sure they couldn't care less, all they want is money..And I had my Honda checked out at another repair place, a rear oxygen sensor was out and the oil leak can wait. Rust? Yeah, some, but not bad.......Aaagh. Don't go there.

They grossly overcharged me and overquoted me on price on two occasions. I no longer use these people.

I had been using them for many years,

but now that they are at their new and more

expensive location on N Lamar, I feel as though

they are charging everyone as much as, and in some cases,

more than the dealership.

I was charged over $300 for a basic changing of belts and fluids for our

Honda minivan, then when I brought my Civic in 3 months later with a belt

problem, they quoted me a whopping $1400 to fix it !!!!!!

I then took my same Honda Civic to a gas station on Airport

where I was quoted a much more reasonable $600 to fix the problem.

The funny thing about all this is that a few days later I found a

place on N Lamar down the street from Ri$hmond and this place

down the street from them ended up fixing it for under $400 !!

To get quoted $1400 at Richmond then to actually

get it fixed for under $400 down the street - That is almost criminal !!!!

6 months for a paint job. Hmmm, 7 reviews before mine that are positive, written on the same day. What are the odds? I brought my vehicle in to be repainted (exterior only) in mid March with a verbal estimate of 2 weeks. I said 3 weeks would be fine. 6 months and a dozen visits later it is STILL not done. The paint job had trash in it, parts were misplaced, blemishes and flaws in the paint were ignored until I pointed out the obvious. It's been one thing after another. I had high hopes for this shop, as Tommy and Richard are very nice, but it was one excuse after another about why I kept hearing "It should be ready Friday" 16 times. As I write this, I have a new promise of next Wednesday. I can only hope.**Update** Went by today to see the car that is supposed to be ready tomorrow. I had to point out the chips in the paint the hood caused because they put it on of center. I had to point out the crinkled mess they made of the $200 dollar decal that will have to be replaced. The pinstripe they had installed was coming up and had to point it out. Again, the look of surprise. I can not believe someone even looks at the paint job once they finish it. I had to leave the property I was so upset. I have no confidence this shop is capable of meeting the minimum standards of quality. It's likely I will have to pull the vehicle unfinished and bring it to another more qualifiied shop to fix what they have messed up.UPDATE- Picked up my car yesterday after being 4 days short of 6 months in the shop for a 3 week paintjob. In that six months they messed up so many things it was almost like an episode of Punk'd. On the day I picked it up, I couldnt leave because I noticed 1. The battery was dead 2. The window wouldn't roll up, 3. I ran out of gas 5 minutes after jumping it off 4. They lost my license plate 5. They forgot to pinstipe my outside mirrors, 6. Interior wasn't detailed and had months of dust in the seats 7. only polished 1 of 4 wheels 8... Worst experience EVER! Use at your own risk!!

fast service, friendly, great customer service, affordable pricing. I have been going to Richmond Automotives for about 10 years. Has always worked to my satisfaction. Honestly there is not another auto place I trust.
