This is our 3rd BMW and I have been very pleased with both the service and the experience that I have had. Over the years, I have worked with their service department and I have found it a good experience. They are not necessarily the cheapest but they have always stood behind their work. I guess it proves the old addage - you get what you pay for.
Ask for Troy Massey @ BMW of Austin!. This is our 2nd BMW purchase. Troy Massey took the time to listen to what we wanted in a new vehicle, made informed suggestions and guided us through the process of finding the exact BMW for us. He was friendly, professional, answered all of our questions and made our overall car purchasing experience pleasant and lots of fun! Troy searched for our dream car and found the exact one we wanted in a matter of a few minutes. We love our red beauty and would definitely purchase another BMW from Troy in the future.
Stay and wait for your service. They have a barista, movie theater, massage chairs, big screen tvs and more. They make errands fun.
Jay Lafolette. I was in desperate need for a car, and Jay Lafolette at BMW was able to help me, not only to get a car, but a great-looking used BMW X5 ... my first BMW! The help he provided me was awesome, and the his support staff really knew what they were doing. Prior to my arrival at BMW of Austin, I thought I was going to feel a little uncomfortable - since I'm not exactly the "wealthy type" ... but, everyone there were down-home-type individuals whom I felt I could trust. I highly recommend meeting with Jay if you are at all interested in driving a BMW.
Work with Jay Lafolette when buying/leasing a BMW in Austin.
I've bought two new BMW's from Jay Lafotette @ BMW of Austin over the years. (a 2007 328i & a 2011 335i) I still own both of them. Working with Jay was a pleasure. He was very informative regarding the models I was interested in purchasing and he gave me a very competitive price. I shopped around Houston, Dallas and San Antonio for a new BMW and decided to purchase my cars from Jay.
The service support @ BMW Austin is next to none! You would not believe the waiting room, it is over the top! I have been to many dealerships over the years for service support and none of them can match BMW of Austin level of support.
I recommend BMW of Austin to everyone I know and tell them to ask for Jay if interested in buying/leasing a BMW. You will be pleased working with him.
A pleasant experience at BMW of Austin. My wife never enjoys the car buying experience because of the salesmen and their bullying techniques. I had communicated with the Internet Department and had set up for a test drive with Larry Stenson. We stopped by at the agreed upon time and Larry was very easy to work with. We started looking at the 5 series sedan but since we have driven 8 Suburbans over a period of 23 years we opted for the X5. We test drove both on several occasions and then ordered one to our specifications. Larry was a gentlemen and won my confidence and that of my wife by never pushing either of us to make a decision. Thanks Larry for your help.
Good Experience with BMW of Austin.
We recently purchased a used car at BMW of Austin and had a very pleasant time working with Jay.
Anyone in Austin who is in the market for a used BMW should check out BMW of Austin.
Straight-forward, pleasant purchasing experience.
Our purchase of a new BMW 328i from Larry Stenson at BMW of Austin was the most straight-forward, pleasant car buying experiences that we have ever had.
I put in an on-line "dealer quote" request from Edmonds, and within 30 minutes or so, Larry had emailed me a response and welcomed us to come by for a test drive - and he said that they had a few models in stock that matched our selection of colors and options. We initially test drove the 335i with the Sport Package, and we took it down the twisty, curvey Old Spicewood Springs Road to see how it handled and then up Loop 360 and back on Hwy 183 to see how it drove on the highway. It was VERY nice. We thanked Larry, and told him that we still needed to look at the other 3 cars on our shopping list - Acura TL, Lexus ES 350, and Infiniti G37 Journey.
The Acura seems large and cumbersome in comparison to the BMW, the Lexus was very dissapointing - the car floated above the road, with very little "connectedness". The Infiniti G37 Journey was very close, and we really liked the red color, but that only came with a black interior (we like in Austin, TX and it gets HOT in the summer). We were willing to "put up with" the black interior and sat down to start talking finances. The Infiniti dealer would offer us $10, 500 for the trade-in on our 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe, which was $1500 to $2000 less than Edmonds claimed it was worth. We almost bought it, but decided to sleep on it.
That evening I sent Larry and email saying that we would like to test drive the less powerful 328i without the Sport Package, and mentioned that my wife was really leaning towards the red color (the Inifiniti looked great, and the BMW brochure that Larry gave us showed that the 3 series was available in red exterior, with TAN interior). Within minutes Larry emailed me back and said he has one in stock that matched that criteria and he would have it ready for us to test drive at 10 AM the next morning.
When we arrived at BMW of Austin the next morning, a light rain was falling, but Larry had the car ready for us to test drive. He insisted that we go our on the same test drive route, and to go by ourselves (he didn't need to go). OK, it's raining, and he just tells us to take off and enjoy our ride!
We loved the car, and it had more than enough power for my wife, so we sat down to talk business with Larry. First he got our Infiniti G35 Coupe appraised for trade-in. They offered $12,000. (Remember what the Infiniti dealer offered us for our Infiniti?) We said OK and worked up all the paperwork.
When we came back in 3 1/2 hours, the car had all the dealer prep, it was cleaned beyind perfection, and was sitting inside their showroom (it was still raining outside). While in the showroom, Larry explained a little of the features and gave us a nice introduction to the car.
They then pulled the car outside, where the satellite radio was activated and another person (Chris?) spent 20 or 30 minutes giving us a more thorough explanation of how all of the controls operated, and even set-up my BlackBerry for Bluetooth voice recognition!
Larry sent us an email 2 weeks later to say that our license plates were ready. My wife drove over and told that to someone in the Serice Department, and she said they were very polite and put them on without any delay.
In summary, the car purchasing experience at BMW of Austin was very straight-forward and pleasant. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in this class of a vehicle!
Great Car Buying Experience. Larry Stenson was very accommodating, answered all my questions and made the overall car purchasing experience streamlined and pleasant. I would definitely purchase another BMW from Larry in the future. Couple that with a quality car that is fast, fun to drive and gets an average of 27mpg (335d) and you can't lose.
Worst Car Buying Experience in my entire life..
My family and me went over to the dealership on the 31st of December. We wanted to test drive a 525 or 528 series (preowned).
There was a salesperson called Sam Smith who greeted us at the reception area. At this point he was very friendly and asked me if I was going to buy a car today, to which I just nodded. He asked me that question very rhetorically, nodding his head and smiling, as he asked, so obviously, I didn't expect for him to expect me to be so accountable for my nod.
I meant to imply that I was out looking for a car and if I found one that exactly matched what I was looking for in a car, I would make a decision.
Anyway, he walked my wife and me through the lot, immediately focusing on a particular car he led us to. My wife subsequently test drove the car and although she liked the ride she wasn't sure it was the best car for her.
During the ride, he was asking my wife some probing questions about the car we drove in, at the dealership, as if to qualify us for the purchase. My wife politely indicated to him that we were driving into the dealership with a rental car. I mean, if a person drives in with a Ford Focus, it does not have to mean its the only car he can afford. Hello? Hello, you stupid idiot, just for your information, I have enough liquid funds in spare to buy about 20 of the 528 series I was looking at in cash payment! But obviously, I wouldn't expect such a dumb salesman to know anything about that!
I probably make more in a year than what this guy must be making in 5 years! I'm not going to flaunt it, just to prove to a stupid salesman in the BMW showroom that I am worthy of buying 1 of the showroom cars.
After the test drive, this sales person asked me if I was ready to move. I politely told him I wanted a day or 2 to make a decision. He gave me the same BS crap about it being the last day for certain deals that were being offered. I politely told him that I would rather wait to check out a few other cars before making a decision in a day or 2. This guy wanted me to make an instant decision! When I politely refused, he completely changed his behavior to being uncaring, and almost disrespectful. He even started to walk away with my driving license and insurance policy in his hand.
I literally had to call him and remind him to return my driving license.
I will NEVER buy a car from this person! It has been the worst experience of my LIFE! I am also never going to return to this BMW showroom and I am going to tell all of my friends about my experience.
I hope this guy eventually gets fired and nobody ever has to deal with him ever again!
I am also going to write to BMW headquarters in Germany, about my experience here.
On the same day, I visited the Lexus showroom on Capital Of Texas Highway and what a world of a difference! There was a heaven and hell difference between the salesman there and this idiot.
