so disappointed. Amazing service but the food was terrible!!! The food had no flavor, the meat was dry, and even the drink I had was boring. It's overpriced and not that great, bummer.

Where's the old Manuel's! Please come back!. I ate here this weekend and was so disappointed. I've been a fan for years and have recommended Manuel's to a number of friends. I loved there chicken flautus, but yesterday's new recipe was awful. The chicken use to be so good and it was stringy and with some bad tasting tomato liquid. The black beans that use to come on the hot plate with your entre was served in what tasted like a week old tortilla cup and the beans were cold and the cup mushy. The entre use to come with a helping of guacamole on a bed of lettuce and tomato. This was brought in a dish so small there might have been two bites. What a disappointment! Presentation is not everything. Lets go back to quality. I second the adios and won't be recommending this place to anyone.

Best Mexican Food in Austin. We had dinner on the patio recently which is one of my most favorite patios in Austin with the fountains and big trees. It was beautiful! The food was excellent! We had the queso, one of the best! The menu has some changes and we loved the ceviche with fresh tuna...and the tortilla soup is also to die for..don't miss the delicious flan for dessert. Manuels is EXCELLENT!

What's up with the change of fajita seasoning???. I hate the new seasoning in the fajita's so now what....was our favorite place but not for fajita's anymore since they changed their recipe that they had for over a decade. Why would a high rated restaurant do that to its customers??? HELLO GO BACK TO YOUR OLD RECIPE UNTIL THEN SEE YA! ADIOS!!

Low Class Joint. The Happy Hour drinks are the biggest rip off in a while.

I ordered a well bourbon and coke and got a glass the size of a thimble with no trace or bourbon for the Happy Hour price of $4.00.

The manager, Pepe, stated that the bar serves 1.5 oz of alcohol and that if we wanted to BUY another drink, he would stand by the bartender and make sure we got a full shot!

He refused to offer us a comp and when I mentioned it, he said that he would but that he wanted us to know that he really didn't have to.

He comped us ONE drink so that we essentially paid $2.00 a sip for the drinks.

In my opinion it is an overpriced, low class place and rank amateurs are running it.

They know nothing about customer service and I would not recommend it to anyone!

Not worth the price. I went this weekend with a party of 4 and I was not too impressed. The food was good, dont get me wrong. But it was not worth the $120 i dropped. The mole was ok, I have had better. and the chile relleno was average. i want this place to work but I dont see going back anytime soon unless I go for drinks and the patio, No dinner please. Also, the guy at the door needs to get more organized. he literally called us to our table 3 times only to have us go back becuase he was wrong. i swore there was a hidden camera there somewhere. Had to be

Always great, beautiful restaurant. Dependably excellent food and courteous, attentive wait staff. Absolutely the most perfect patio in Austin. We've been going here since it opened, probably once every week or two. Some of these reviews are just out and out lies, or maybe vindictive because they WERE drunk and needed to be shown the door. Manuel's is a very nice restaurant, with the most gracious management of any restaurant we frequent. We've been here at least 100 times, and we wouldn't be there all the time if there were issues like these. Go enjoy Sunday brunch, with live Latin acoustic music, and you'll really be living.

DISGUSTING SLOP. Sorry, but this is not even close to decent mexican food. I had the enchilada suizas which were not even edible. My daughter had the guacamole tostadoes....only had black beans from a can and lettuce. Where was the guacamole?.... Should have went to taco cabana....better food at a better price with a little flavor....Please if anyone reads this save your money. People talk about what great drinks this place has.....well they have tp be drunk so they dont have to taste how crappy the food is......

Worst Service in Austin!. Ah, Manuel's -- a neighborhood restaurant in my neighborhood that is not so neighborly. The food is not terrible, but at these prices the service is what knocks it down to one star. After many, many visits all I can conclude is that the general manager is either a Mormon or generally opposed to alcohol, as the wait staff appear to be instructed to not oblige patrons' desire to consume alcohol. As noted in other reviews below, you have to either hunt down the wait staff to get a drink or seek out the bar on your own. Ten to thirty minutes between visits to your table is not uncommon.

Worse still, the GM recently had us cut off after five Mimosas at a Sunday brunch, which is probably the most insulting experience I've ever had in a restaurant. It was largely laughable since the entire party was comprised of men who can throw back a six pack and not even flinch. The bartender informed us that it we were being cut off by the GM and it was fairly common when people are "drinking during the day."

The food is inconsistent, but decent. Nonetheless, I'd steer clear. The wait staff is intolerable and the GM may just decide you've had enough. The guy is either a prohibitionist or a moralist. Either way, I won't be revisiting my neighborhood Manuel's any time soon...

Best margaritas, fabulous happy hour. This place has the best margaritas I've ever had (house rita on the rocks with salt).

Also, they have happy hour every day from 4-6, when all appetizers are half price (in addition to drink discounts). Three apps between two people is a meal. So great food, great drinks, and a good price.

If you do want something off of their regular dinner menu, nothing on it has ever disappointed - the Relleno del Mar is an exceptional treat.
