Tips for Rational Auto Repair And Maintenance

Been using Rational for over fifteen years.. Well, I just had two more awesome experiences with Rational last week. I think I have had about twelve trips to Rational since 1996.

My wife's Kia was squealing like a pig. So Paul does a nice little brake job for much less than the brake place would have charged.

My other vehicle, an old mustang I just got, where the AC wasn't running and the brakes were "weird".

He fixed the A/C, check for leaks. none found. Any other shopw would have "Found that leak" even if they had to create it themselve. Fixed and tested for $145.

The rear rotors were shot. One had even cracked.

(he showed me the rotors later. He thinks it was from an accident, which makes sense as I have other evidence to this mishap)

He found rotors for $75/each. I was expecting more like $150/each.

When I asked him what he would do to help restore this car, he said "It is in pretty good shape. Drive it and come back and fix it if something breaks."

So, in short, he does a great job, and everyone I know that goes here will never go anywhere else.

Everyone should have a Doctor, a Lawyer, a Preacher and a Mechanic that they can rely on.

Paul is my mechanic.

Excellent work - very honest. I had my car towed there when my brake lines went out. I explained to them that it was an older car and I really wanted to keep it on the road for as cheap as possible. They totally honored this constraint and fixed just the problem I mentioned to them for an incredibly reasobable rate.

This is the place to go in North Austin if you are looking for an honest mechanic who is not going to try to screw you for every little thing he can fix.

I will definitely go back again in the future.

very accommodating. i took my vehicle here twice (once because my starter was going, once due to an exhaust problem) because it's near where i work. both times, they drove me to work, no questions asked. both times, the problem was diagnosed the same day and fixed within two days and for less than they quoted me (and neither quote was unreasonable). they were very good about calling me to communicate the status of my vehicle. they were also having a problem with their credit card machine one day when i picked up my car, and my card information didn't scan properly. they let me leave without paying and trusted me to call them to give them my credit card number the next day! i totally could have had my car serviced for free... but i was so appreciative of their trust and honesty (and ability to fix my car for half the original estimate!) that i actually paid them (stupid, probably, but i would've felt really guilty otherwise). no problems to report here! but i do have a suggestion: pick up your car on a day when the credit card machine isn't working. ;)

Brake Job. I had rear brake job done. No surprises on cost! They were honest and I am recommending them to my friends and family. Kudos R.A.R.!

CEO. Even though it is an hours drive to Austin, I am just so pleased to have found such an honest repair shop. Paul always has the correct diagnosis and treatment. I swear, my little BMW has a smile on her funny little face every time we get out of the repair shop. Everyone there is so good-natured and pampers my car more than I do - and believe me, that is quite a bit.

a pleasant surprise.... i got an estimate for $800+ from a quickie place...they took a look at it - explained to me what was really wrong - and got me fixed up for only about $380.00! i was skeptical at first, but my car's problem hasn't come back... it's been almost 2 years!
