In Short – The Texas State Capitol houses offices for the governor, secretary of state and all legislators, as well as the Senate and House chambers, a library, bookstore and cafeteria. Twenty-two acres of trees and monuments surround it. The architecture and sculptures of this ornate building, which is taller than the U.S. Capitol, can be viewed every day of the week. Free 45-minute tours are offered and include watching Senate and House proceedings during the legislative session.
