Some of each. This review is actually for the Arboretum location. This is a great place for half price happy hour drinks and appetizers. The bar is very comfortable and attractive. The service was good and professional. Of the appetizers we tried the fried calamari was by far the best. Absolutely delicious. After a couple of drinks and appetizers my wife and I went to the dining area which is also quite nice. The service there was on par with the bar. My wife was already stuffed from the appetizers so the waiter allowed me to order just one of the date nite specials. My entree was the filet and it was cooked to perfection and was great. Unfortunately everthing else was subpar. The gumbo was real dark brown, salty and tasted like it had liquid smoke in it. It made me want to run to Quality Seafood, get a bowl of their gumbo and erase the wretched taste from my mind. The vegetables were overmarinated which ruined their natural good flavor. The cake desert, although huge, was mediocre. They were kind enough to comp part of the meal which I felt was very gracious. I would definitely return the this establishment and just be a little more selective. I think the tasty basics of some of the dishes have been overpowered by seasoning masks. I really do like this place though. Maybe I should have given three stars but the gumbo was heart breaking.

great food less than stellar service. Food was good, a bit pricey. The service was awful. I had reservations, was seated by the kitchen. Never a good thing. The waiter was less than attentive and hovered as I figured my gratuity. I had never seen that before. I would never go back, Austin has far too many fine dining options.

The best. Kudos to Trulucks for having consistently excellent seafood and steaks. I am so particular about seafood preperation and I have never been even slightly disappointed! One of our favorite places to eat in town

Very good. Trulucks is a great place for a nice dinner or late lunch. Although a bit pricey, the food and service are worth it and it definitely has atmosphere. Recommended for a night out or a romantic evening.

Austin's Best Seafood. Have been to both locations in Austin and the food is exceptional. Service is superb and Trulucks does not rip off their customers by using low quality seafood and small portions. Management is the best I have seen in the Austin area. Trulucks is the only place I go to for great seafood.

LOVE TRULUCK'S. I was so impressed with my dinner at Truluck's last Friday. I reserved online and they really listened when I said I wanted a cozy but not isolated table. I couldn't have picked a better table myself. The staff had to be the most courteous and professional that I've encountered in Austin and the food was great from beginning to end. We started our dinner at the cozy piano bar with just enough buzz around us to be lively but not loud or overwhelming. Although we had reservations for 8:30 the hostess let us take our time and held our table. This is the perfect place for a date night or to go with a group of friends. Oh.... did I mention the stone crab? FABULOUS!! The surprise birthday cake they presented my husband with was heavenly. With all the great restaurants Austin I think I've found my favorite. Thanks Truluck's for a perfect evening.

Fabulous food, Incredibly rude service. Maybe Truluck's has turned elitist. Ive been there many times before and always been impressed by the good food and service. This time, same great food but awful service. The waiter was rude the entire dinner, walking off as we were still talking, we had to flag him down to order more drinks and he brought the check WITH the dessert course, before we had started eating, before we had asked for it-- not being at all subtle that he wanted us to leave. The restaurant was not at all busy, there were not even people in the bar area, so it didnt appear that there was a wait for tables. Not that that's an excuse for such rude behavior. When my husband told the waiter why he only tipped 10%, explaining that the waiter gave us awful service, the waiter never apologized, never asked what was wrong, never tried to correct it-- he just said oh, yeah, sure, whatever, have a good night, walking off as he said it. If you are looking to have a nice night out, don't go here. If you like being insulted by your waiter, there's a table waiting.

Best Seafood in Austin. Perfect service, great food, wine list is deep. Eat in the dining room or at the bar, same great experience. It is pricey though but you get what you pay for.

Excellent food and service. I've been several times and found the food outstanding and the service excellent as well. Kind of old school restaurant with a great seafod selection that is very modern. We loved the lobster and the crabcakes among ofther dishes.

Despite my mothers attempts to flip out (she crazy) while enjoying a meal there the wait staff did an awesome job of attending our needs and keeping their distance when couckoo was raising her voice. Needless to say I slipped an extra 10% to the already 20% tip to thank them for their patience!

Excellent food and service, hard to beat.

Truly Unforgettable!. My bride-to-be and I had our rehearsal dinner at Truluck's. The food and service were so spectacular, we went back to celebrate our first anniversary. To our amazement, the second evening at Truluck's was even more magical than the first. The stone crab was simply amazing, the entrees inspired and perfectly cooked, and the wine impeccable. The cherry on top was the service. The hostess, the server and the manager all made us feel like the most important people in the room. We will return to Truluck's every chance we get--anniversaries included.
