The prawns with grits at this upscale restaurant are huge! They are about as big as a hand. Also, the crab claws are delicious and the carrot cake is amazing.
Excellent food, great staff. Truluck's is by far one of the best restaurants in Austin. The food is consistently great and the staff is always helpful and kind. I would recommend Trulucks to anyone seeking a great meal and a good time.
Absolutely awesome experience - all around. Had a fabulous experience from the time we walked in the door. Our waitress, Erika W, was awesome! She assisted with selection of champagne and wine (based on what we usually drink), was very curtious, attentive, helpful, and fun. The food was delicious (crab, lobster and a filet - all were wonderful - in addition to a seafood "appetizer" tower of crab claws, lobster and oysters). The crab and lobster were the best I've had - just melted in my mouth. I've eaten at many higher priced restaurants and this experience surpassed all but one. Loved it!!! I/We will be back!
Avoid This Place. We had eaten there in the past and enjoyed the meals. However this night was a surprise. I found that it had changed to an elitist club - I took my wife there to enjoy a meal and was told that we could only eat in the bar or wait 2 hours. The restuarant was over half empty but they didn't want to server us in the main room. The couple who had come out the door as we were going in warned us that we didn't want to eat there. If you are looking for a comfortable place to enjoy a fine meal with friendly people. This isn't the place. With the change in atitude, we will not come back. There are far too many better places in town at this price range.
highly professional, amazing food, delightful experience. I went there with my family and the experience was perfect from start to finish. the server was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. We felt very taken care of. We will be returning and thanks for the great experience!
Good service couldn't overcome noise, food quality. Our anticipation far exceeded the experience. Extremely loud music, totally inappropriate for dining made it dificult to hear our server, who was excellent, very gracious. The room was so dark we were furnished flashlights to read the menu. The crab cake was OK, but a lot more expensive and not as good as several other Austin seafood restaurants. Their dinner of stone crab was the most disappointing - overcooked and flavorless. Nice dessert and coffee. Never again.
Do yourself a favor.
Save yourself from the overpriced, noisy atmosphere. While the service was good and the quality of the seafood acceptable, the uninspired chef's concoctions left quite a bit to be desired. I tried several of my companion's dishes and all were so loaded up with sugar that if there wasn't seafood on the plate, I would have been sure that we ordered off of the dessert menu.
If you MUST go here, stick with the bread.
skip it. We were looking for some good seafood on our visit to Austin. Picked this restaurant by chance. Wow!!! The noise level in here is amazing. So loud we could barely hear our server, let alone our dining companions. Our server did seem to be very friendly and attentive. The food was just so-so and overpriced (for the quality). The menu seemed to be fairly small, while the wine list was very extensive. I wouldn't recommend this place to friends.
Food and Service is consistent and excellent.
We usually dine at the Arboretum location, which has a much nicer atmosphere by the way, but I wanted to leave a review here as well.
When my hubby is craving seafood, we head to Trulucks. Sure it's expensive, but the food and service always deliver. We love the sweet potato fries as an appetiser. I enjoy the steak tenderloin medallions and he orders a different fish every time that he always raves about. This is a great special occasion restaurant as well as a great place to entertain clients.
Fabulous Food and Fabulous Service ...want to be treated like royalty?. Fabulous dinner from the drinks before dinner to the wonderful dessert. Best of all we were treated like royalty...There were 4 in our party and the service was great and the food to die for. ...we walked in the door at 7:00 and left at 10:15... The other members of our group had all you can eat crab and I had the Jalepeno Salmon. ...The crab was exquisite and the best salmon I have ever eaten......from the appetizer to the dessert ...one word...Fabulous... I can't wait to go back. ....we have eaten at Truluck's in Houston many times and our first visit to the Austin was beyond expectations....
FOUL!!!!!. I can see why this place closed for lunch- Smart move. Service was all over the place. I could not tell you who our server was at any point of the night. I think our table got handed over about three times. Servers seemed anxious to get out on a apparently not so profitable night. No excuse for the lack of service, or the freshness of the seafood. I realize that it is after Christmas, but really are you going to push off all of your foul seafood that didn't sell over the holidays on the last days of the year, way to finish strong, and I mean with a strong odor! Foul- We attempted to speak with the managment about it, who was quick to apologize, and even admitted that they created a seafood feature that may not have been the best it could be. They offered to invite us back, but I don't think I can handle the stomachache.
