A hike up to Mount Bonnell is a quick and fairly easy one for the light adventure seeker. Pack a picnic and some walking shoes for lunch overlooking the lake and one of the highest points in Austin!

There's a tall, several story stone staircase at Mount Bonnell that leads up to one of the highest points in the city. It makes for one hell of a hike with your beloved, and if you still have energy afterwards, a marriage proposal.
A great view. The park is nice and a popular scenic view. What you may not know is it is also popular among the crooks. Check out the parking area and note the broken glass on the ground. This is an indication of side windows being broken out and purses and wallets being stolen. They will also watch to see who puts their purses in the trunks, break out the glass, pop the trunk from inside and depart with your purse in seconds. Take it with you and don't leave valuables in plain sight. Enjoy the park, and have no surprises when you get back to your car.
Must see!. This is a must see for locals and tourists alike. The hike up Mt. Bonnell is short and stairs are provided for easy access. The views of Austin at the top are breathtaking. Don't forget your camera.
Mount Bonnell Park. What is the hype? Climb the steps to overlook a subdivision. If you have never been out in nature for an extended period of time, this may impress you. If you are looking to get away from people, and just relax in nature, this is not the place. Ditch this ideal and head for the Hill Country or McKinney Roughs (which is located between Austin and Barstop on Hwy 71). If you want to look down on yards that are well manicured than this is the place. I went to Mount Bonnell Park after hearing from several people about this place, and started laughing once I got there. The view would be much better if there were only a lake to look down upon.
Best Scenery in Austin. This is a great place to bring visitors. The whole city is visible from Mount Bonnell. Most beautiful at night.
An expansive, romantic view overlooking Lake Austin and the downtown skyline..
In Short
Opened in the 1850s, this is the oldest tourist attraction and one of the most romantic spots in Austin. It's said that if a couple climbs the 100 stairs to the top of Mount Bonnell once, they fall in love; twice, they'll become engaged; and after three times, it's inevitable they'll get married. In addition to its mysterious lovebird influence, the park has picnic tables and a pavilion.
Best place for overall view of what Austin is about. This park is perched at an awesome vantage point to view a part of what Austin is about. The hills, the green, the water... Spectacular view of what this part of the country has to offer.
Gorgeous Austin view. Not much to add to everybody else's review except to agree with the ones that love it. This place is a must-see for everybody living in Austin.
Favorite Place. My favorite place in Austin to visit. A beautiful scenic view.
1st smooch. I'm not from Austin, but my boyfriend is. It was my first visit to Mount Bonnell, and I thought the view was awesome.....It's coincidental that this was voted the best place to kiss, this is exactly where my boyfriend and I first kissed.
nice place.
Whenever I go to Mount Bonnell, I feel freedom.
It is really nice place.
