What Our Expert Scouts Say

EZ's
June 25, 2013

I always hit up EZ's when I'm in the mood for a good salad. Then there are the times when I'm in the mood for pizza, burgers and milkshakes. I just can't resist an EZ's peppermint milkshake.

GREAT FOOD, NEAT OLD TIME ATMOSPHERE. Reasonable prices, great onion rings, brick oven pizza hot out of a real fire oven, but you have to try the Chicken Basil Pasta. Your taste buds will be crying for more. There is nothing left on my plate. This place is a MUST. Plus, they give you a card that gets you a free meal after a certain number of visits.

Veggie Burgers with Great Toppings. The veggie burger topped like the bean burger, along with a basket of fries, is a great casual meal. As you walk in the door, the wonderful wood smoke from the brick oven makes you feel like you are at camp. The cashiers are quick to take your order. Unfortunately, the line is usually clogged with indecisive people reading the menu. The restaurant is loud and it can be hard to find a table with the large groups of teenagers or young children allowed to occupy tables on their own. There usually are a large number of children here, and as the atmosphere is casual, it is not uncommon that children freely wander around the restaurant, giving the place a chaotic feel.

Burgers and wood-fired pizzas with pizzazz.. In Short
You're already in line when you enter. On your left, the giant menus dazzle. This architectural update of a '50s-style burger joint is colorful and comfy for kids and grown-ups. Big, flame-grilled beef patties are still on the menu (examples include bean burgers and chili burgers) and are joined by hearty, fresh-cut fries and thin, hand-battered onion rings. Thin crust, brick oven pizzas come in individual and share-me sizes.

The Joint you hang out after classes. A bit on the informal side, but great place, decorated like a dinner, drive or dive place. Its were you will see lots of college and highschool kids hang out after classes. Portions are generous and service is rather quick. Try the Rosemary Chicken it is GREAT

50's like Diner. EZs is basically a 50's diner with a brick oven. You can come there and have one of their great malts and burgers, or maybe have a tasty pizza or calzone. Either way... you have choosen wisely! This place is ever better for students where you can get a 10% or 15% discount as long as our order is over $6 or $7 bucks. So if you are a student and you were debating on getting those fries or that shake... go for it! EZs is ever great if you want to relax with some friends outside nad enjoy the weather. I strongly recommend this place to anyone in Austin that hasn't checked it out atleast once.

Tasty burgers and the best shake ever.. I go to EZ's often to get the veggie burger. It's best if you get it in the style of one of the other burgers or with avocado and mushrooms. If you get the frings (half fries, half onion rings), you have to be sure to tell them to include the chipotle sauce. It's delicious, especially mixed with ketchup. The best malt is the chocolate, and the cherry shake is the best shake on this earth. The only thing I wouldn't recommend at EZ's is the margherita pizza. I've tried it twice and both times it was bland and flavorless. It's a little crowded and sometimes that slows down service, but most of the time EZ's is fast and tasty.

Fast, great, cheap food. I go here about once a week. The food comes out quick, the price is dirt cheap (especially with the $2 college discount), and it tastes great! I recommend getting the Basil Chicken Pasta or the Rosemary Chicken. Kids eat free on Wednesday and it gets a little crazy and noisy so I would avoid eating on that day. Otherwise, its a great place - oh can't miss the milkshakes, they're the best.

fresh and fabulous. What a fun place! The food is fresh and tasty, and this is the only place in town with a decent student discount. Sometimes it's a little noisy, but hey, it's a diner! Good burgers, good salads, good pizzas, good everything =)
