Best Cookies!. I just ate lunch at Portabla with a few coworkers and it was amazing. I've lived in Austin since I was little and today was my first time in to eat. The soup was pork and lamb and it was delicious. The cookies were to die for...I had cookie with marshmallows in it and I wanted another. I will definitely be back.
So Impressed!. This food is delicious! I work downtown and my office was having a training so we ordered Take-out from Portabla. We all ordered these Panini sandwiches and they were YUM! They had basil pesto and provolone cheese...my favorites!! The homemade cookies were delicious! Plus, the service was GREAT! Let me tell you what happened: They forgot one of the sandwiches and I was picking everything up. I should have checked. I felt so bad, but since we were in training I couldn't get back in my car to get it. So I called to let them know and the CHEF/OWNER agreed to bring it to our office HIMSELF. Now that's service! Who does that anymore? I know he's a new owner for this restaurant and I guess he's aiming to impress! Mission accomplished! I can't wait to go and try it for dinner!
We all appreciate the nice comments, thank you for choosing Portabla for your catering needs. We try to go the extra mile for our customers, thank you for noticing. Just a reminder we do deliver down town $15.00 delivery charge.
Hope to see you soon!
Thanks,
Mark Krug
Great place for lunch, but its best to go after the :lunch rush. This little bistro is a great place to meet for lunch. They have great food and very friendly people.
Hello,
Thank You for the great review we really appreciate it. Our customers are everything to us, without you not only would we be out of business, but we would not be able to show case our passion for food.
I had no idea that we could respond to our reviews, I would have responded sooner.
We hope to see you soon, Thanks Again!

The honest truth, use another caterer!. "You get what you pay for", isn't that the truth! We recently used Portabla for a party and had a less than satisfactory experience. From the staff showing up late, to missing items, inadequate portions, and serving cold food, I would recommend taking your business somewhere else. Maybe, to Portabla, the small changes/mistakes they made for my engagement party seemed minimal, but to my family, my fiance and I, and our guests, they did not go unnoticed. You would think that a professional business would have enough consideration to call after deciding to change their arrival time from 1pm to 1:45 pm, or would know that a small box of crackers is not enough for 30 people and a large cheese platter. Or that, blaming the fact that the food was served cold on the weather being 60 degrees that day, is utterly ridiculous (and this would not have been an issue if they brought the chafing dishes they said they were going to bring). The empanadas were missing the dip they were served with...and so on and so forth. Most likely, I would not even be writing this if the owner of the business seemed sympathetic and apologetic to our experience, but after taking most of the blame for having an outdoor event (which was the plan from the start), being told that we got what we paid for, "maybe if you had us plan your whole event and paid more money...", etc...I want to express my dissatisfaction with our choice in Portabla. The last thing I said to the owner of Portabla during our heated discussion of the event is that I would be honest with my experience, and I have, I would never use them again, and do not recommend them for any important event.
Hello,
My name is Mark Krug, I am the new owner of Portabla.
I am very sorry that you had such a bad experience with Portabla. I can assure you that Portabla is a different restaurant than before. I have over 12 years experience in the cooking field, I went to school at CSCA IN L.A. California. My passion for food is equal to the passion I have for my customers, and it hurts me to read such a review like this one, even though this happened before I took over. I would really like to show how much Portabla has improved by inviting you and 5 other guests for dinner complementary. I would prepare a special dinner 3 courses plus dessert on a night of your choice. I am not doing this so that you erase your message, I just want to show you how different of a restaurant Portabla is today, and how well we take care of our guests. Please call me or email me 481-8646 - eat@portabla.com
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thank You,
Mark Krug

Great for lunch, great vegetarian. I went here on accident the first time, meaning to go to cafe josie, I have never made it to cafe josie but i have gone back to portabla's for the excellent food and friendly staff many times. I highly recommend the portabella pannini, delicious! Don't forgot to grab a box of homemade granola before you leave, its the good stuff!

Gourmet baked goods, sandwiches and pizzas for those on the go..
In Short
Compact yet open, Portabla features a bakery case, a coffee bar and a small seating area. Modern gray chairs accompany round black tables, set off by vases of tall flowers. Most patrons seem to prefer takeout, so you'll have no trouble snagging a table right around dinnertime. Fresh breads, imaginative salads and a daily entree are the makings of a hearty, easy meal. Specialty pizzas include the rectangular Leonardo with spinach, garlic, provolone and leeks.
Love it. I love this place. Flower, music and the food is all 100 percent all the time. They really care about you too. Everybody knows your name kinnda place....eat here and you won't' be disappointed.
Food too good. Food this good will not be good for my waistline. The quiche? Incredible. Chicken salad? Better than homemade. Meatballs? Just add a fork. Save the cooking for another day, and just pick up food from here. Enjoy.
