Editorial Review for Waterloo Ice House – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
This no-frills hamburger joint opened on Congress in 1976 and now has several locations. Creaky hardwood floors and big wooden chairs make up a causal environment where buddies relax with suds and grub. Old photographs and signs decorate the walls, reminding you of the days of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Willie Nelson. Everything is made to order. Aside from the famous burgers and fries, regulars crave the Texas Philly sandwich and queso chopped steak.

I have enjoyed many a breakfast at the Waterloo Ice on Burnet Rd as it is near my office. The other day I noticed on the Waterloo sign "try our chili". What a mistake! Has the manager tried it lately. He or she needs to. I would be happy to drop off a recipe cause your chili is terrible.

If you find yourself out on a Tuesday evening, go to Waterloo on 38th St. and listen to the Will Dunlap band. It makes for a fun night out for food and entertainment all under one roof. The salad with apples and walnuts is delicious. Sit back with a Black & Tan brewski and enjoy the show. The gig starts at around seven o'clock.
Pros: Live Music Scene, especially on Tuesday nights with Will Dunlap Band
