Really good sushi and excellent service. I really like to sit up at the Sushi bar and chat with this one particular Sushi chef - Agila (sp?). It's not on the menu, but Agila will make us this "Spicy Susan Roll" which is just incredible. It's a regular spicy tuna roll with salmon on top and then this Agila's special spicy sauce. We then order a wide variety of both sushi and sushi rolls - some of my favorites are the spicy tuna and the unagi (crispy eel in this delicious sauce). I always get their hot green tea which definitely is hot. I have to pick up my cup using a napkin. Then I top it all off with some of their green tea ice cream! That's what I'm talking about.
Best Sushi Place I've had yet in Austin. Having moved here from San Francisco we were spoiled with delicious Asian cuisine. This place is the closest so far to what we had in California. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Ambiance was very nice and the staff was friendly. So far my favorite sushi in Austin.
Excellent. Excellent...good ambiance but a little tired in decor. Bathrooms very nice and clean....does not smell fishy and super fresh . The sake is very reasonable. excellent service casual to business dress. Escolar is very good and salmon very fresh those are my favorite. You can t go wrong w/ the spicy susan. Miso soup my husband loves...
worst customer service. It was a good sushi restaurant.until recently when we had the worst service we've ever seen. The waitress was rude and impolite even though we ordered a good amount of food. We haven't finished eating yet, but the waitress already took the plates from the table. The food was so-so.
Angel is the Best Sushi Chef in Austin.
Let me start out with a little background. I'm a sushi nut. I like it all cooked, raw, traditional and unusual. I am on a first name basis with my sushi chef in what every town I live in. So I know my sushi. The atmosphere is nice and the severs are courteous, but what makes this place a standout is Angel. Make sure you pull up to the sushi bar and have Angel make you some of his special sushi rolls. He is a creative genius and all around delight to eat with. The fish is fresh and delicious. Tell him what kind of fish you like (when it's not really busy) and he can come up with something to knock your socks off every time. He also does great traditional style sushi as well as spicy concoctions that infuse the Latin and Japanese flavors beautifully. There is always something new to try. I can not comment on anything other than sushi on the menu, because sushi is all I ever eat.
If Angel is not available Sean is also fantastic too.
BEST SUSHI PLACE.
BEST SUSHI PLACE IN TOWN(ON THIS PLANET)
--My wife & I are new in town! We happened to be in the shopping center during the holiday one night doing some shopping. We were checking out all the outlets and ran into Sushi Sake. Guess what, we went in and hoping that the restaurant will be impressive because we usually dine at standing restaurant only!To our surprise, this restaurant overwhelming exceeded our expectations. The decors & ambience were very nice. While we were waiting for a table at the drinking bar , the friendly staffs were very courteous & helpful by asking us if we needed a cocktail or drinks. Since we said no and there were nothing in front of us, other staff members & manager also tried to offer us something. We could not believed that the staffs really went out of their way to take care of thier customers!!! Anyway the food & services were impeccable(spicy Susan roll the waitress suggested) and the price was worthed it. We definately will be back again. CHEERS!
Tried everywhere and keep coming back to Sushi Sake. I eat sushi several times a week. Have eaten here many times, and every time has perfect food and perfect service. We keep trying all the "hot new places" to eat sushi around town, and everytime my wife and I say that we should just stick to Sushi Sake. Order the Spicy Susan and Spicy Carlos, they are the best rolls in town, and I really have tried them all.
Moldy sushi and ill-mannered manager.
DO NOT EAT AT SUSHI SAKE.
The quality of food is bad; the store manager is really ill-mannered and doesn't value customers.
I had lunch with my friends at Sushi Sake last Friday.
The lunch menu one of my friends got wasn't served in right way.
The ginger was all mixed up with wasabi and other foods were arranged in a little awkward way.
We hoped that the taste would have been able to compensate for the poor appearance.
But the taste was even worse. She told us that a sushi she just had tasted something moldy and spat it out. She called the store manager and explained the whole situation.
You know what?
To my surprise, he never said 'sorry' to her and tried to change only the parts of the dish she complained about.
I've never seen any restaurant or waitress/ waiter/ even STORE MANAGER respond toward a customer's complaint like that.
His arrogant attitude showed that he considered her complaint as a false - accusation to get a new fresh food, or something like that.
A few moments later, she had another chance to point out his ill-mannered attitude.
And I couldn't believe my ears when I heard what he said to her.
"If you don't like it, don't come back."
What kind of manager is he? How could he treat customers like that?
Yes! We won?t come back ever again. And tell this story all around.
PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY FOR POOR QUALITY FOOD AND BAD SERVICE.
terrible...worst place. It was the worst place in Austin. The employees made me feel bad. Please don't waste your money for being treated like a beggar.
If you're open to new delights, try Shabu Shabu!. Sushi Sake offers a little known menu selection called Shabu Shabu. It's difficult to find outside of L.A. and San Fransisco, but Sushi Sake hits a home run with their rendition. Shabu Shabu is Japanese for "Swish swish", a reference to the motion you use to cook your own thinly sliced beef and veggies (using chopsticks) in a boiling bowl of water. Rarely served the same way twice, it has always been nothing less than superb. Unfortunately they do not serve this dish on weekends.
