Run by an Irish guy named Johnny, Bull McCabe's is a beloved, grimy pub on Red River's strip with live music, an incredibly friendly vibe, and generous pours of whiskey. What more could you want on St. Paddy's Day?
Nice place. I had fun there. My friends and I had a good time when we visited Austin. There are a wide variety of people of all ages. The place gets a crowd later in the evening. If we lived in Austin we would probably be regulars. We never felt like we had to wait an eternity to get a drink and our drink tab was reasonable.
Great Food.
Nice place o eat.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Great place to enjoy a couple of drinks. Some friends of mine and I were recently looking for a place to go out and talk, where we could hear each other without screaming. We had a great time and the staff was very friendly. We have decided that it is our new regular spot.
you are full of it.... ...it was i how at 220 am took your beer and yes it is a legal thing. i am sorry that you had to go but i gave many warnings of the approachi
Really nasty at close.. So, I'm there at the end of the night throwing darts like a good Irish boy and all of a sudden, no beer in my hand, they shut down the game. Now this isn't a legal thing or anything of the sort and these guys are just being dicks. I try to talk to them and they're asses. In any case, I'll never be back and I will never give them another cent. As a reference, I'm a regular at many an Irish pub in Austin and a welcome customer. I tend to be very nice to people because I've worked in service before. Not nice people at close. If you intend to be there at close, choose a different bar.
My Cheers.
This authentic Irish bar is all about the beverages. No food to get in the way of a relaxing good time. A recent renovation has moved the front wall back a bit to create a lovely, covered front patio for people watchers and smokers alike. There is a nice HDTV for watching the games, but the music stays on most of the time.... even when we're watching sports. Plenty of eateries close by so you can get your grub on and still be in the neighborhood.
This bar is my home away from home. I come here for happy hour. I come here for Friday nights. I come to celebrate the good things and drown my sorrows after the bad.
Come on down for good beer, mixed drinks, icy ciders and hot Irish coffees.
Great place to relax and enjoy a pint.. This is a no-nonsense pub. Bartenders are friendly and happy to engage in conversation over a pint. It's a good place to escape the crowds and obnoxious frat party that is much of 6th street. But make no mistake, the patrons here know how to have a good time, too.
This friendly pub brings the spirit of the Irish to the heart of Texas..
In Short
Bull McCabe's is an authentic Irish bar, but don't arrive expecting shamrocks and a tenor warbling "Danny Boy." The low lighting falls over the worn-in benches and stools that line the small room. The jukebox tends more toward the Chieftains and U2, keeping the mellow feel through the busiest of days, including St. Patrick's. A friendly staff serves pints of Guinness and Harps to a clientele of rugby players and off-duty restaurant and bar employees.
Great Place. When I was new to Austin, a friend showed me this place and I always love going back. The bartenders are great, the beers are dark, and if it suits ya there's a nice little courtyard so you can still enjoy your smokes.
