In Short – More than 300,000 people a year visit these sprawling grounds on the south bank of the Colorado River. Each of the eight gardens has a theme, such as the Isamu Taniguchi Oriental Garden with a Japanese Teahouse and "Bridge to Walk Over the Moon," and the Hartman Prehistoric Garden, where dinosaur remains were discovered. The open-air pavilion in its center provides a view of the downtown Austin skyline.
Mother of all Aloe
by LV2TravelDWorld
This was a neat attraction. We went there on Sunday afternoon. There are beautifully landscaped areas. Lots of animals (squirrels, birds, etc.) and there is the Mother of all Aloe plants there. I took my picture by it! I'm 5'6" and it was a good 6-8 inches taller than I and about 5'wide.
Dead Animals Are Cool!

Especially enjoy the new Prehistoric Garden and dinosaur tracks. The lovely ponds/waterways alone are worth a visit. A most pleasant walk.
- Pros: Nice downtown views, Trails/Shade, Free!!!
- Cons: Noise from Mopac
