Editorial Review for Mother Egan's Irish Pub – by Brandon Reynolds
In Short
County Meath natives John O'Brien and Mick Morris recreated an authentic Irish neighborhood experience. It's named after Morris' grandmother, who took care of her village's children in the early 1900s. Away from the bar bustle of Sixth and Fourth streets, this relaxed Irish pub attracts an older professional crowd. A full menu has Irish favorites like corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie and fish and chips. The bar is stocked with 16 drafts and bottled brews.

My experience at this pub was TERRIBLE. Due mostly in part to the service. I didn't really catch my server's name because he seemed too busy running around franticly and yelling at the other waitresses, but he had short red hair styled with horrific sideburns, oh and i think he was wearing cowboy boots (great choice for an Irish pub?). He was rather unfriendly and seemed completely disorganized when it came to paying attention to the tables he was supposed to be waiting on. Also we could see him rudely barking orders at the other girls working there which seemed very unprofessional because we witnessed this right from our table about 5 feet away from the bar area. Overall, I would not recommend Mother Egan's to anyone I know. Why go somewhere and pay not only for overpriced beer but also for a snooty waiter and terrible service. Maybe If they fired this guy, I would consider going back for a better experience.
Pros: Good selection of beer and food
Cons: Overpriced, bad service, unprofessional

I've been to Egan's several times and just love the place. If you are looking for a home away from home that just happens to have great beer on tap and even better conversation from the staff...this is the place for you. They have this bartender named Ward...he'll have you laughing so hard you'll wish the bathrooms were a little closer. (He's deep into sarcasm). The whole staff is very welcoming and will chat with you to make you feel at home. (But if you're a tool or muppet, they'll let you know it.) The place seems to bring in a more professional crowd that prefers solid conversation to a meat market. That being said, it brings in the normal crowd on the weekend that are all looking for negotiable affections...but nothing like the other bars in the area. The food was good and the bartender told me that they will be serving more upscale food as nightly specials soon. Good to see they are going with the upscale theme of the area.
Pros: Service, Beer selection, People, Deck
Cons: Parking in area, Wine selection, Lack of seafood
