The Skinny
San Antonio music fans now save on gas money since there's no need to drive to Houston or Austin for large stadium tours, thanks to the newest music venue in town--even if the ZIP code technically places the stadium in Selma.
The Crowds
There are 8,000 reserved seats under a covering and room for 12,000 on the grass-covered incline. Unlike the amphitheater, the streets around Selma weren't designed to accommodate massive traffic. Congestion around Retama Park is now a familiar sight. Although road improvements are planned, expect urban-style lines to and from the amphitheater to match the big-city entertainment.

From Austin and New BraunfelsTake I-35 South to San Antonio. Take Exit 174A Selma (FM 1518). Go through intersection of Evans Road and turn right on Retama Parkway. Turn right on Lookout Road to the Amphitheatre entrance.

Once I got to the concert, I loved it. You never felt too crowded. Of course everything costs too much, but you expect that. Here is the problem. Every good concert is going to have a wait in the parking lot, but after Aerosmith, not only did it take 45 minutes just to get to the road, but there were some exits that were blocked on purpose! Either get enough people to direct the traffic from each exit, or wait until the roads live up to the facility.
