My number one stop for all beauty and hair care needs. They also have a great points program where you can easily earn a $10 gift card! Great sales on OPI nail polish and other designer products.

A small, nearly 15-year-old Austin-based beauty chain (there are four locations around town, including one steps away from Blue Elephant), The Beauty Store is like a mini-Sephora/hair and nail salon. There are plenty of products here to make you look great obviously, but if you want to smell great too, head for these two brands on Beauty Store's shelves: The Thymes fragrance line (which is refreshingly NON-floral) for ladies, and the Jack Black fragrance line for dudes (no relation to Jack Black, beloved comic actor).
Citysearch Editorial Review. This spot is a busy girl's dream--convenient one-stop shopping and priming. Nestled in the northeast corner of the Lamar shopping center, the Beauty Store offers an assortment of hair, skin, nail, bath and makeup products like MOP and Fudge hair products and Toni & Guy cosmetics. The salon and spa offer the basics of hair and body care, including facials, mani/pedis and styles and cuts.
SO NICE!. this was the first time i had ever been to this store, but it definitely will not be the last. the people there were SO helpful that i felt guilty walking out of the store without making a purchase. I went in looking for something specific after being told by my hair dresser i could find it there, and when they told me they did not have it, let alone had never heard of it, i was pretty down, then one stylist looked it up online for me while another called their store supplier and gave me a list of salons that carried what i wanted and which one was the closest to their store! i will go back whenever i need to buy product for sure!
Fabulous Cut - GREAT PRODUCTS.
First of all, I didn't even know this place existed until I searched out Christina Crawford on a friend's recommendation. This little store is tucked away by Central Market. VERY CUTE LITTLE STORE! Everyone way really friendly while I waited for my appointment. I have had such a hard time finding a good stylist, but I am finally thrilled with my hair. You can tell she really loves what she does.
After my appointment, someone who worked in the retail section helped me find a new shampoo and conditioner. I was looking at Pureology (oh, how I love it.... but the price tag is just too high right now), but a dark-haired girl there helped me find something on sale. She recommended the Halo, which I do like and it was a quarter of the cost. Then she gave me lots of samples and an orange card so I can earn free stuff.
I loved my first experience at this little store and will be going back to do some shopping soon.
stay away!. I had an overall bad experience with this place. The staff are not very friendly or helpful. Terrible customer service. Then, the lady who cut my hair, rushed through, did a terrible job, and then charged me $65! I mentioned to her that it didn't look right and she blamed it on my hairline and then said I should take a few days to get used to it. I've had the same hairline my whole life, and it's looked good with past haircuts, so I don't think it was my hairline. I felt like she was just making excuses and seemed in a real hurry to get me out of there. She also didn't speak English very well, so it was very difficult to communicate with her. The next day I asked some friends to look at it and they all agreed that it did not look straight in the back and was not blended very well in the front. I also had to get out the scissors and cut off some strands of hair that were obviously much longer than everything else. WTF? I called the salon and spoke with the stylist. I told her I wanted my money back so that I could go someplace else to get my hair fixed. She refused. She said I could come in again and she would fix it, but I do not trust her to go near my hair with scissors ever again. I also feel that for a $65 haircut, it should look great, and I should not need to go back and get it fixed. I was very calm when speaking with her on the phone, but she got upset and accused me of harassing her because I was calling her from my cell phone which doesn't have a local area code, and she had to call me back, "long distance." So apparently that is harassment. Anyways, long story short, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE unless you want to pay $65 for a haircut that looks like it should have cost $20.
Best Staff - Great Selection.
I have done my shopping in here for a while now, and I have always been happy with The B.S.. I am always greeted (Sometimes in unison by multiple girls... It's kind of funny) and asked if I need help when I walk in. Any time I need a recommendation, the staff is always more than happy to help me. You can tell they really use the products and know what works and what does not (They recommended ALTERNA Thickening Compound for my fine hair last time.... and I love it). They seem to keep the same staff for a while, which really helps, I think.
They frequently run specials like "Buy One, Get One" on hair products and candles. Also, they always have my Jane Iredale in stock and when I needed help finding a new color, I was given all the help I needed. They helped me find the right color and a new Make up brush for it.
Last time I was in there, one girl was helping with a customer that was freaking out because her hairspray stopped spraying. She admitted to having it a while but told the girl she did not understand why they sell faulty products. The sales person fixed the hairspray for the woman, but she was not happy with this so she was given a discount on a new one. I thinks the sales staff was very nice to, what seemed to me, to be a very rude customer.
The only bad things I can see about the B.S. is the way they answer the phone (you should call them... its funny), and many of the other customers seem a little high-maintenance for me.
HORRIBLE service, great selection. This place is convenient and has an excellent selection of products. Their return policy is great in theory, but having to deal with rude service people when you return something almost makes the policy not worth it. (What's the point of having this policy if you're just going to stare down the customer, act all judgmental, and act like you might not accept the return?) Every time I go in here, it seems like there are several more staff members than necessary - they're never busy - but instead of rushing to help a customer, they continue to gossip amongst themselves. When they do take the time to help you they cop an attitude as if you're greatly inconveniencing them. They're also very judgmental ("why do you want *that* ew" is not something i expect to hear from a salesperson.) Their product recommendations are also sub-par - they don't seem very knowledgeable beyond what they themselves use. Management is rude to both the employees and the customers. Bottom line - buy things online for cheaper and forget about the return policy. Buying beauty products shouldn't leave you frustrated or upset.
TG Girls Are Welcome. I recently had a wonderful session with Lauren introducing me to their mineral makeup. She spent a lot of time with me and answered all of my questions. I loved it!
Awesome Locally Owned Salon!.
The Beauty Store in Central Park is great! I get my hair cut and highlighted by Brandy Louden and she is amazing. She has been cutting my hair for about 5 years now and I will never want to see anyone else! She is very precise and cuts your hair the way you tell her to. She never cuts too much off or leaves me with anything I didn't expect.
As for the store, it is great too. It has very low prices and you get a reward card that rewards you with a $10 coupon when you fill it up. I use Pureology products and the Beauty Store always has them.
For the record, since I am a past employee of the Beauty Store, there is not a single person that makes the appointments, it is just whoever answers the phone. I left my job there because the new manager was horrible, but my friend who works there now says the management has done a 180.

Rude and disrespectful management.. I buy all my skin care and hair care supplies from The Beauty Store. They always have everything that I need and the customer service is usually above par. However, I went in to find a top coat for my manicure kit and I asked the manager to reccommend a product for me. She was very rude and basically ignored me completely. Then I was assisted by another associate who had never used the product and felt she should ask her supervisor. The supervisor then proceded to roll her eyes at the girl and never answered the question, just continued flipping through a magazine. I found this to be very disrespectful and unprofessional.I filed a complaint against the supervisor but, I will still buy my beauty supplies there because they have a great selection and quality products. But, I would advise future customers to go in knowing what they're after and steer clear of the snobby management or ask another associate for help.
Good cuts, rude service. The quality of the hair cut is always really good, but the service is pretty bad sometimes. I called to make an appointment for me and a friend and was shocked at how rude the person on the phone was. I've been going to the beauty store for about 7 years but will probably find somewhere else after my experience with the woman who makes appointments.
