In Short – Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon…

Where To Sit:
If you have a large party, reserve the circular "Pope's Table." Special occasion? Request the kitchen table, where diner's can watch all the behind-the-scenes restaurant action.

Great food and atmosphere for large parties

by MMapel at Citysearch

This was our fourth or fifth time at Buca with a large, slightly rowdy party and they have never let us down.

The food is always great and there's plenty of it, so expect a doggie bag. Some of our favorites are the Bruschetta, the Apple Gorgonzola Salad, the Lasagna and Chicken Saltimbocca, and the luscious desserts. We had the crazy big Brownie Explosion Sundae, and the Dulce sampler platter, with the standout Apple Crostata and Double Dark Chocolate Cake.Yum!! They even added some Chocolate Chip Cannolis, as there was only a small piece of Cheesecake available.

Our waiters Steven and Rebecca kept our glasses full and our plates clear, and the manager always comes to check on our service. We've always made a reservation for the weekends, and have never had a problem. In fact, this time they called Saturday morning to confirm our reservation for that evening.

Overall, I'd say Buca di beppo does an outstanding job

We definitely kept them hopping with our large, somewhat demanding party and they rose to the challenge. Everyone was pleasant and efficient and it made for an enjoyable evening. What more could you ask for?

Food ok, Service is the worst!!!

by TAUT at Citysearch

So we had a reservation for 31 people. Only 29 showed up, and they wanted to charge us for the 2 absent ones.

Question: If you bring communal plates, why do you want to charge per person then?

The $27.00 per person was way too much for the quality and the taste of the food. Nothing out of the ordinary or delicious or special. Bland salad, spaghetti with sauce - no meat, chicken with a tiny piece of cheese on top.

At the end, everyone from servers to the woman (we suppose she was the manager) turned to rude and unprofessional. Apparently they don't know how to run cards on their system or something...

I agree with other reviewers, DO NOT TAKE YOUR GROUP TO THIS PLACE!!!

Too annoying and not cheap!!! I'm sure next time we will find a place that actually enjoys their customers.

Favorite Italian Restaurant

by T j at Citysearch

It's hard to believe that there aren't many reviews about Buca over the years (good or bad).

I have never been to this one in particular when it has been overly crowded. There has never been a rude word or any waiter/waitress that has ever shrugged my table off in avoidance. Their food is always delicious and love the family style servings. I'm a leftover lover and these are always the best.

My only recommendation is to avoid the Tiramsu like the plague. I ordered it twice and it tasted terrible both times. The third time (shame on me) I had it was brought home by a friend, and I wound up spitting it out. They really need to review the recipe on that one.

rude management

by lucky99 at Citysearch

We reserved a room for 50 kids for a homecoming dinner from 5:30 - 7:30. The manager proceeded to place additional diners in our reserved area and then when they complained that our kids were too loud, they told them to get up and leave (after they had taken our money). These were a very responsible group of kids. The partner at the restaurant treated them and the chaperoning parents very poorly. I do not advise large groups to book there in the future.
