Editorial Review for Sky Lounge – by Sarah Brown
In Short
A red carpet leads young professionals who like to dance to the neoclassic foyer. The club's focal point is the dance floor, a former atrium with gleaming iron beams. The Cirrus Room, a members-only, late-night area, is accessed by an elevator. The lobby-style lounge overlooks Congress Avenue with art deco, bank-style chandeliers over tall tables near the bar. A cozy balcony has a view of another, even larger bar toward the rear of the club.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyThere is no cover charge to get in downstairs and drink specials, like $3 well drinks, are frequent.
When to GoArrive early, and you may be one of just a few patrons enjoying one of many lush spaces inside. After 11:30pm, crowds fill the dance floor of this deceptively large venue.

The staff @ this club really is great. If you are kind to them, they are kind to you. If you act like a bigshot & are just trying to get in free.. they could care less if you attend. The people that come to dance & support the events and dj's are the best! and there are alot of them!.. Most people don't realize what kind of stress goes into hosting such large events. The staff of sky & the others (Eternal Network & staff) work very hard to provide Austin with good music & a good experience.. they do a great job of it!
Pros: Big shows & good people!
Cons: Hefty cover charge... but well worth it

I walked in at 9:40 p.m. tonight, paid $40 cover for my girlfriend and I to get in to a show that was advertised as beginning at 10:00 p.m. and found that the entertainment would not be performing until 12:00 a.m. We used the restroom and immediately reconsidered staying for 2 hours to see a show we'd planned on leaving around the time we came to find it was going to begin and asked the door person for our money back (the place had less than 20 people inside). She was rude, but got the owner. I asked the owner for a reimbursement of our cover charges given the fact we had been in the establishment for less then 5 minutes and he then proceeded to explain that had we been there for less than five minutes (as if to imply that we had been there longer) he would refund our money, but because it was already in the register, he would not grant the request. I began to argue the point that I had just mentioned that we were there not more than five minutes when the bouncers began to close in. I removed the band that had been placed on my wrist and threw it in the club owners face. The proprietors of Sky Lounge can keep my $40 and i'll never be back and I hope others read this and are put off by a club owner that, during SXSW, would refuse to refund a cover charge under such circumstances. If I ever go back, it will be because I am going to see an artist that simply does not come and perform locally at any other establishment.
Pros: The DJ's they mangage to get in the door.
Cons: The money grubbing owner.
